I't really comes down to personal preference you need to try one out first. leather is high maintenance but if you look after it leather is a great choice in my opinion

It is absolutely down to personal preference
my preference is NO WAY roasting and sticky in summer, freezing in winter, you slide around more and they tear and crack only advantage is they look nice and are easy to clean.

no, they age horribly and unless you put a over over them or park in the shade everyday then they will need to be reupholstered

+1 for leather, if they get hot just crank the ac, if you have young kids they are great for spills/accidents etc just wipe off.
Even though the ford leather is not good leather mine has lasted well in the territory (160,000km 04 model) with minimal maintenance, just think of them as great vinyl....oh yeh and don't bother protecting your seats with covers for some future owner just enjoy them and a pro clean before selling is probably cheaper than good covers anyway....,

I have had a G6E with Cashmere leather. I loved it, though it's true I had to put in extra work to keep it looking good.
Trouble is the wife and kids didn't like it at all, for the reasons already mentioned..... too hot to sit on in summer, too cold to sit on in winter, slippery, too sweaty. I am just changing over from the G6E to a new Territory and have gone for the TS. Various reasons for the change, but one thing is for sure - no leather this time. So my two cents worth....... go for cloth. |

I have leather and suede in the ute and I find that a perfect combo.
FG leather is worse than my BFII, but neither holds a candle to the leather in my old AU... |

Did it continue on to AU Fairlane and LTD? I've had leather in just about every car i've owned and I love it. It may be hot in direct sunlight on maybe 3 or 4 days a year, with tinted windows and AC its not even an issue. When its cold it takes about 2 minutes for your body heat to warm it. So much easier to clean with kids for sure, just wipe clean. Doesn't stain for most spills like cloth would. If you treat it properly with leather wipes to keep it soft it will last a long time. |

depends on your use.
I prefer leather. get black leather. after a few years creases do not show up as they do on tan leather etc. I just love the upmarket look and squishy feel when sitting in them. I have sports leather in my BA XR8, full super duper premium leather in the LTD. My old XR6T was full leather. |

Leather all the way, never found it to be too hot or too cold, as all my daily drivers have air con and heating so not an issue, the wife's car has heated seats in winter, and she loves the leather as well.

Its a quality leather, and seems to be covering the whole seat, not just the sections you touch while sitting in them like I had on my BA XR8. You could tell the seat backs and the sides were not real leather on that. |

I love them and wont go back. I only got my first leather seats as car I wanted in stock had them, before then I thought waste of money. But my last two have had Leather seats and I have optioned them. Love the feel, the look of them and FPV do such a nice seat with logos etc.

I live in a pretty hot climate in north Qld and had leather in an SV5000, Calais, HSV Senator Signature, GTS and 2 late model SS and as long as you look after it like you do with the rest of the car it will last forever. We currently have it in an SS which is great for kids, epecially if they spill something as it wipes straight off. No damage or stains. Definitely not hard to maintain or I wouldnt have it

x2 great with kids. Easier to clean up spills and easier than cloth to look after long term. We have the G6ET and a Focus both with leather, gotta say the G6Es leather feels much nicer than the Focus and loads better than the leather in a Calais.
Just get good tint for your windows and use a reflective sun blind for the windscreen when parked and the seats will burn less. |

I went from Leather in the AU to cloth on both BF's and then re-uplostered the seats to leather in the last BF. Now have leather in the FG and will never go back to cloth! I love the feel, smell and texture of the leather. Plus I feel it helps with re-sale value, a little.

Leather. Every time.
The AU Howe Leather was better than the Leather in my X5. If I could get the BMW smell, with the AU quality, in another Falcon, I'd be very happy.

I've got leather GT style steering wheel in my ute and my hands sweat a lot on that in the summer heat, I reckon if the seats were leather too I'd need the missus to meet me in the garage every afternoon and peel me of the interior like a human bandaid.

I have sports leather in my xr6t and think its great, holds you in the seat better. best of both worlds. My brother has leather in his xr6t and i dont find it as comfortable, especially for spirited driving.

I ordered leather (any colour you like as long as it's black!) in my '08 FG XR6 and (still) love it. I dont use any chemical based cleaners just a wipe down with a damp chamois to clean them. It pays to use a good sun shade and get the windows tinted too. this helps to keep the interior cool even in NZ's summers.

Leather's great. Got the leather/suede combo in the GT and I'd never go to cloth/fabric. If the seats are a half decent shape there's no slipping and sliding. As for being cold in winter, geez, do you people live in Alaska or somewhere? I can understand the heat thing if left in direct sun on a 40 degree day, but cold in winter....Harden up boys!!!
Dirt/spills are much easier to clean with leather. Wipes straight off. Suppose if your car is going to always be subjected to direct sunlight, then cloth may be best, but for general use, leather is a very good option. Just like a lounge suite really. Time for a separate thread!!! |

I love leather trim. It does get hot & cold, but not to the extremes that vinyl does.
My 1st leather trim car was a 50th Anniversary ZG Fairlane way back in 1985 and I've been a convert ever since. Easy to look after. We have a beige, a red and a black leather trim at home at the moment. You need to clean the biege and red a lot more often (or is it just that you see that you do) I don't care it's worth it. Go the leather. Wherever possible I will have leather over cloth from here on.
