It's cheap as it sits, but it's cheap for a reason, and not cheap considering how much it will cost to repair, by the time you have the paint and rust fixed and any other issues sorted it might owe you 15K may be more, so now no longer cheap.

Mate walk away..
That shoddy lookin paintwork is due to it being repainted/repaired bodgy. I have owned 4 x b-series cars and none of them have paint like that or rust near the spoiler. I know someone with an el falcon, some bloke at the gym repaired it as it had a car park bingle, where the guy repaired it went like the car your looking at, faded away. But the factory paintwork is fine. The top of your checklist should be "mint condition" I'd rather find a older falcon with a mint bodywork and a few extra km. Mechanical issues can be fixed but when the car has a bad body/rust, it's no good. |

The rust will be one of your biggest issues.
Many panel shops refuse to repair/warrant rust. They'd prolly want to replace the entire boot lid. Have you checked for rust under the parcel shelf too, and in the engine bay? Can be hard to see, being a dark colour. The car may have had a repair to the back end and/or RH corner. Look closely for signs of bodywork under the paint, or inside the boot area. In order to make it roadworthy, I can see you spending another $1.5-$2k at least, on top of the purchase price. And that's before any servicing has been done. It's realistically, a $11k -$12k car, all fixed up. If you buy it, factor that into the purchase price. And make sure you verify the low km's, with not just service stamps in the book, but with service invoices/receipts too.

The condition of the car and value for money are one issue.
If you particularly want this car and it looks as if nobody else is going to pay them their price then you MUST get them to find a way to clear the title before you pay a cent. It may be a bomb but there's a possibility you'll be paying their car off and they will still own it. That's what would really concern me. |

Im sure there is a better one than that somewhere in the country. The cost of freight would be cheaper than repairing that mess.

As others have said regarding the finance, I bought my previous car from someone who had finance owing on it and did exactly as others have suggested. The owner sent me a copy of the payout figure notice from his finance company, I paid that amount directly into that account (it was a novated lease) and then went to his bank with a bank cheque for the remainder (he was away on site at the time and seemed like he didn't want his partner to know the full amount he was getting for the car? They were an interesting couple...but that's a WHOLE 'nother story!). I got both my bank and his bank to send him conformation of the funds, which he was happy with.
As others have said though, I would advise walking away from that particular car. Rust and faded paintwork are potential signs of a dodgy repair or a car that has been a little neglected. Personally, I'd hold out a little longer and finding an example you don't have to spend more money on just to bring it up to scratch. |

Walk away from that car unless it is really cheap. I have a black 04 ba falcon and the paint is starting to go but the only part that it has separated is the spoiler. I'm guessing you are after a bf so you get the 6 speed Manual?

And I am not looking outside WA as getting the car registered over here is not worth the hassle. If you take into consideration the freight cost then re licensing and me having to go look at it it's no longer cheap at all. I have checked for rust everywhere else. Engine bay, under door sills, sides of body under the skirts parcel shelf, under the boot lid liner, that rust on the boot is only on the skin. The log book has the receipts stapled in it, so I believe the km are true. Jamo |

walk
you want to spend around 9 grand but will need to spend a few more to fix the paint and rust so now its a 12 grand car with the issues fixed on something thats done 87 thou kms, which give it another 50 to 70 thou kms will have mech stuff start to go wrong with it so depending on how many kms you do in the next year you could end up spending way over 9 grand on it all because you have to have a manual? i wouldnt buy it.

The boot lid needs replacing. Also agree the fading is probably due to repainting after repairs done on the rear quarter panel. Should never be fading like that on a BFII. To repeat what others have pleaded, do not buy this car, even if its a manual. There should be others out there which would be a much better buy. Have a bit of patience and wait until something better comes up for sale. |

That paint and rust worries me buddy.... last year i traded my 2004 BA XR6 in with 155,000kms on it and it had no rust (other then a little spots around joins in the engine bay n u had to be really lookin for them) and the was no paint fade/peeling at all! so with the age of that BF, that paint SHOULD NOT be like that... i would walk away. I see it as a warning sign...
if ur prepared to pay a couple of 1000 on the paint job to fix it up, just pay a little extra on a car without that issue at all... getting a a decent manual will be a challenge thou.

Leave it be. Keep an eye on it.
Price may drop a few grand. Offer 5k and there will be some cash left in the kitty to bring up the appearance.

That's what I reckon low ball them, take or leave it. And say because of the paint issues, leave a contact number and walk away.

Guys if the bloke wants to buy a faded and rusted falcon for 9k then by all means. Rust and Peeling clear are major concerns for myself and most people here. But they seem to be 'ticking all hes boxes' so who cares. Mate enjoy your new car. Dont walk away if you think its a bargain. Personaly, i wouldnt pay a cent more than $5500. And thats squeezing it out of me. Ive seen xy/xw's with less rust.

whoa stay away from that thing, how does that even "tick" the right boxes. Rust and delaminating, arent cheap to fix, it also tells you that the owners dont care for the car. You just have to be patient and wait it out, it can take well over 6 months to find exactly what you want

I don't know why Ford can't get those spoilers right?
But that car has spent its life outdoors, and there will be water in the boot. |

Id be looking at the ba xr8 5 speed, the blue one in the link provided, looks like a nice car.
The grey xr6 your looking at looks to be very unloved and lived outside all its life, guarantee the rust goes deeper than you think. Hold off and look at other cars. It wouldnt be just clear coat,it would be respraying at least a few panels and a new boot and trying to match dark metallic colours is a nightmare, the rear screen would need to be removed to do the job properly too,who even knows whats under there... I would have seen the damage and run a million miles, with your budget you are stretching seriously to get a decent bf,why not look at a ba and get a decent one instead. |

I have seen that XR8, however i really am looking for a 6 speed. I'd rather have a 6 cyl 6 speed than an 8 with the 5 speed. I am happy to be patient and wait a bit, but what I'm looking for doesn't come around all that often. Saw another one today that had tiny tiny rust spots under the fuel filler, will be staying away from that one too i think.
