I have an AUII forte with standard non-power aerial.
The aerial's busted off and I'd like to replace it with a power aerial.
Anyone know if the wiring's there to connect a power aerial to?

Great advice...just one problem....removed the grommet and retaining nut, turned on the radio and the mast won't come out no matter how much I encourage it. Do I have to pull something else off it???

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

I still can't work it out. Why won't the aerial come out? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

my wife's auii fairmont ghia had the same problem. got the aerial out and just soaked the top two section of the aerial in hot water for ten minutes. then i tapped the top end to see if it went down. all good. put everything back and hey presto, works perfect, goes all the way down... now my wife can take her car through the robo carwash.

It might just be that it has simply reached it expiry date. mine has, and Ive decided NOT to replace it based simply on the price. its not that im too cheap to buy a new one, i just think the prices they charge are ridiculous!

About $130 for an electric one from Supercheap... Makes you wonder what a window mounted one would look like :P

Look in all honesty, my viewo n the prices is biased... I can gte most parts at trade price or cheaper, due to my job (panel beater), and contacts, (my cousin works at ford), so if it came down to it, i can get an arial for less that $40. but yeh! Again, $40 is practically nothing, but I still reckon it a rip. PLus working on other peoples car all day, makes it alot harder to be interested in my own of an evening!

Any chance you can hook some of us up with cheap parts?

i just replaced my old bent electric antenna with one i got from a wreckers. the new one i bought had the connector to the power supply snapped off.instead of soldering the connector from my old unit on, i decided just to swap the mast section from one unit to the other.

i did this all, and cleaned out the old unit as it had some gunk in it, regreased it and put it all back together. now the arial seems to work fine but it doesn't really come out very far, bout 40cm or so. was just wondering if someone can tell me how far these antennas are supposed to extend?
