Don't get me wrong, I hope it does come because it'll be a great competitor in the EVO/STi/R32 category, but we usually get watered down rubbish by the time it gets here.

May not come in as a full volume import.
We would probably get a watered down version like a WRX, but for the full effect, it could come in like the Ralli~art EVO X. Less than 100 to get passed the stricter import controls.
Would still love to see it here and as an RS.
Maybe it could come in under the RS banner with links to Msport.

A bit more info on the Focus RS. Insiders at NBR are now reporting AWD and 260Kw.
I'm not digging the look of that. Looks like a ricer has got a hold of an XR5T. I hope that's not the final product. The pic on the first page looks much better to me.

Pic on the first page is the test mule in the old/current body. New running gear/old car.

The FPV badge will never be worthy on this focus. Absolute sacrilage if they do. RS stands for so much more compared to a badge compensating so called " Performance + Heritage + South Pole".

I for one hope they do bring it over here, might get other people interested in the small Ford range. Ford Aus years ago had a great little 4WD car that was a rocket in the TX3, but drop it.

I see it that FPV is our performance arm, ford will have the XR5's FPV will have the more hardcore version, whats wrong with that? FPV have the GT, and is owned by prodrive who is involved in WRC anyway...

260KW, AWD, what a monster. STI, EVO, R32 will all be left for dead.

I highly doubt it will wear any FPV badging. FPV are very unlikely to put badges on anything unless they have done significant work to it. It would be sort of like taking credit for somebody else's work.

Not even FPV are immune from going back on their word. If this car is half decent then FPV would be tripping over their own feet and fumbling with 10 thumbs to stick their badge on it.

Left for dead is a big call. You need to consider things like torque spread, weight, what sort of gearbox it'll have, what sort of diffs, how well will it corner etc. Then there's aftermarket tuning capabilities. I know in America just in the last week, a company has released an edit for the EVO X, on stock exhaust/manifold/turbo, everything, just using 98 ron and the edit they're making an extra 70hpatw and 100Nm torque. Change the exhaust to a 3" adds another 25hpatw. So for about $1800 ($1000 for the edit and $800 or so for an exhaust) you are getting 95hpatw and 100Nm. Pretty decent. Can the Ford match this?

That indeed looks hot as....

Although i am more leaning towards the next Focus Cosworth having those power figures. (260kw, AWD) reason beeing are a few things, The Focus Replaced the Escort in the UK. Cosworth have a reputation for building AWD cars. ie the 4x4 saphire cosworth, the Escort Cosworth 4x4. That and the escort cosworth had bonnet vents, where as the Previous Focus RS never had bonnet vents and the power jump from ST to RS was not as extreme. The Previous ST170 had 170ps, with 127kw FWD, the previous RS had 215ps which is about 150ishkw and was FWD. It had flared arches and unique bodykit.

The picture above has all of these but it has too much more. the jump from 166kw in the Focus ST to 260kw is MASSIVE even by fords standards. The Jump From FWD to AWD is once again MASSIVE.

I personally belive that the Next Focus RS will still be FWD and have 300bhp and what the photographer saw was (hopefully) the Cosworth Focus in preperation.

Reason for this is that to have a Focus Cosworth is better than having a FOCUS RS!!!!

To all those poeple who say they know nothing about the RS namebrand. All i have to say is that That is what Marketing is for. You Market it and poeple know about it.

I hope im wrong about the focus, cause it is a really really nice bit of kit. But that information seems to be more Cosworth material. Awe well.

Mate you seem a bit confused on the RS/Cosworth relationship, all those Cosworths you mention in your first paragraph are actually RS's

sorry. yer im aware of the relationship. ill agree with you that i was a tad bit confused when i wrote that. Sorry.

Meant to say that i hope they release the Focus RS with 300hp FWD and if cosworth get their chance they release the Cosworth RS as a seperate model.

But i hope that if that pic of the car is released that it is truelly a cosworth creation.

There was an article in EVO magazine about the spy shots. They said that the only obvious 4WD system in the Ford/Volvo family for small cars was the Volvo system which is mainly FWD until it detects slip and then sends power towards the rear wheels. I guess that means that the hardware is there but I think that the RS version would be better off being predominantly RWD and sending power to the fronts when it detects (or better yet anticipates) slip.

Does that means the Ford would be up for engineering a better, stronger rear driveshaft, propshafts and hopefully a rear LSD? Sounds like a lot of $$$ work for a niche model.

Yeah the new Focus is a fair bit different to that, so id say you are right they are just testing the drivetrain.
