The construction of and amount of squeaks that end in up the dash. You cant do ANYTHING without removing the radio and its just a stupid way its put together. I have a rattle in my dash that Ive been trying to find for the past 6 months.

People who write off my car because it's an AU, espescially when they obviously know jack about cars.

Other then that I can't really fault my car, I don't know what anyones going on about the seating poition I think it's perfect (i'm 6"4'). I drove my mum's BA for a week and the amount of time's I hit my head on the side was unbeleavable.

Oh I just thought of something the fact that my 6 stacker just ate two cd's and shat itself when I'm the poorest I've ever been, so I have no radio or music till I manage to actually find cash.

i don't have an AU, and i might get yelled at for this...
but i find the interior, in particular the dash construction, a massive step backwards from the EF/L. apart from that, the exterior can be sexxed up with an XR kit

^^^^^

Yeah, I had an EL, it was a better dash than the low series AU. I never did like that big egg shaped console.

But the high series AU dash was one of Ford Australia's best efforts to date.

The thing I hate most about the AU is that Ford and Tickford got together and invented the T-Series, especially the T3. I am unashamedly addicted and just can't get enough of them. Oh how I pray the Lotto God will smile down on me tonight! There's a couple more out there I feel the need to own. LOL.

I lied. The one thing I really really really hate about my au is the fact that one day I may have to upgrade to a different model!!

They're all DOWNgrades

I think I got a good one cause I don't have most of the problems everyone else has. I don't mind the look of the fairmont inside and out but in the falcons I agree they could look better but they look like a fairly modern shape for a car that is around ten years old. Have to agree the series 1 brakes are crap, I think I've seen push bikes with bigger brakes and the beeping that goes on forever when the fuel gets low is probably the most annoying thing but it seems to shut up just as I'm about to punch it. Haven't tried the climate control thing to shut it up yet but now I know I will.

Oh just one more thing I hate is the fact it's not twin turbo and off it's nut but I think that might be a bit picky.

I love the seat position in my AU XR6 series 1, better than the BA's. ( I drive a BA during the day at times)
The mirrors are ok, same as BA.

ONE complaint, getting that BLOODY spanner to disappear on the dash when a sevice is due seems to put a permanent dent in my finger :(

August 2002 build... 168,000km with stamped service book from Ford in Darra, I think.

I love it though, to bits and peices, which is lucky because it's falling into them. :

I keep thinking I could have saved LOT of money by buying a cheap as chips EF/EL on LPG that likely wouldn't have had any more problems than this AU has. But that's life!

i don't own an Au but if i had the money i would go out and buy an Au wagon,,i love the things,,especially i think it is burgundy red or similar .

and you'll find all fords from the ea up will all have the same problems with oil leaks and head gaskets just not as often as some.

I've seen some Au's that have done 3 head gaskets in a year, and some ea's that are only on there 2nd gasket with over 400 000 k's on the clock,,it boils down to how well the vehicle is looked after,,keep it serviced and it will last,,treat it like dirt and it won't.
