Hi all
watched all 3 shows so far its getting better but very slowly as someone said why wont a Camry start because of low oil its not a computerised Mack as that will happen if it is low on oil or water and the cars from the "scrap yard" dont they mean wreckers $500 how about getting out in the real world and having a look $ 50 is more to the point OK Julia is French and she learnt to drive in a Chrysler Centura these know all luck all mechanical car enthusiest presenters should know that a Chrysler Centura is a knock off of a Simca 180 designed and built in you guessed it FRANCE the OZ ones had the Simca motors 4 cylinder or the OZ hemi 245 six just like the "high output 4 litre" in the Jeeps bye for now |

I reckon its getting better every week. Still not great, but this was the first ep where I didn't cringe at some point in every segment. The $500 challenge had me laughing at a couple of points, agree though that they should have spent more time getting the cars to run properly. The black review was actually a half decent review! But the star in a car bit is really slow, I never really liked the UK one either. Agree that the camera work is getting better and I had a slightly better idea about how the track looks.

Copying my post from another forum because it may actually get read by someone who has something to do with the show on here .
First of all, people calling it the worst show on earth and boycotting, keep it to yourselves so the rest of us who want to see it evolve get the chance to do so. You can always jump back on the bandwagon when it becomes popular and claim that you were behind them from the start. They've been on air now for 135 minutes and have improved immensely. If this rate keeps up they'll be getting close to the same level as the original by season 2. So for some constructive criticism for a change: #Humor is still missing the mark a lot of the time, but its improving. I thought wozza had some great ones. The shot of him busting out the factory manual was gold. Subtle FTW. #Put some diesel on the track or something - we need more smoke and outrageous powerslides. #Camera work - Put a camera at the entrance to the chicane so we can see the body language of the car though it, and a similar shot to the hammerhead at the question mark - squirming under brakes, then have a look at the handling characteristics as it rounds the bend. #Cut down on the colloquialisms. I grew up in the country and couldn't even understand half of them! #Some shots of motors please! And a bit more on specs, plus if there's anything special about them - like how that black merc gained the extra 17kW. #Music is pretty good, but was off in the X6 segment. A bit 80s porno. In the track tests some rock like Audioslave or some of the bridges that Cog do would go well. Listen to Cog -The Spine around 3/4 way through as it builds then goes freaking nuts and you'll see what I mean. Imagine that mixed into the exhaust note of that black going sideways at a rate of knots, with diesel assisted smoke ****ing out the rear. Chubby inducing material. Keep up the work guys - I love seeing how much it improves as each week goes by. I read on the final gear website from a few guys in the audience that the next episode is a cracker. Can't wait!

I think it's definately improving each episode, IMO. The presenters seem more natural and less scripted, and the car reviews that they are doing are at least more in-depth then the ones they attempted in the first show, like compare the Maybach "review" in the first episode to the one they just did on the X6, worlds apart.
And the star in the standard car bit is boring, but it generally is on the UK version as well.

I thought the show was an improvement over the previous two. One observation worth mentioning is when Charlie referred to the viewer feedback they received from the 'poofteenth' reference. So the good news is that the show will hopefully improve as presenters/audience alike find their place.
I do like the play on the Ford/Holden debate - especially with the paddock bashers (go EB!!) - hopefully there'll be more of that to come... |

It sucked ***! Why on earth did we try and copy/ mimik the brit version?
The set, the lay-out, segments, the stig etc... we should have gone out on a limb and really made an Aussie version- this is just tragic :( What did we expect= the Host entry conditions were a perfect/ clear drivers licence?! Anyone who loves cars or actually knows/ has a passion for, would be rare to find a clear record?! So i still cant stand the cartoonist.... dont know the track lay out- cant follow celebrity challange now, or test car. And to sweeten the deal and do some viewer research you'd think sbs would still run the british version- if only repeats on say Sat nights? |

The Stig is a certain Bathurst winner in a Nissan GTR who called the fans at the track that day "a bunch of rsoles".

I put money its John Bowe. He has driven all sorts of exotica and at a pace not many could match. He used to do a feature in SPEED (a magazine) that was a great read, more or less he was a instructor to the people with enough money to own a lambo, but couldnt drive it.

Now there is a contradiction in terms. The reviews were much better this week in that there was an actual opinion given. I don’t like the Stig introduction in UK top gear. It was sort of amusing for about a season and a half but its old now for Richard and Clarkson let alone our version. Speaking of old, so too is a star in an irrelevant car. I fast forward through the UK version too. The actual footage and description of the track was much better and "what were they thinking" is a good addition replacing the cool wall. Didn't enjoy this week’s challenge as much as last week.

ive watched the First half of episode 1 and nearly 2/3rds of last nights but had to go pick my daughter up from work on both occasions ,from what ive seen its quite funny and getting better,i loved their attitude to the the Poofteenth complaints, very ozzy reaction to wowsers, even my oldest daughter who watch's every show i hate at peak time viewing ,sat and watched the new top gear and had a laugh or two during the scrap yard challenge.
as for wreckers or scrap yard who cares what you call it,although lots of wreckers have now turned much more along scrap lines due to high metals prices. |

I enjoyed last nights episode!! My only complaint was that the challenge didn't last long enough.
And Warren was funny when he was reading the Camry's handbook after failing to start |

I must be watching a different show than most other people on here. Perhaps the torrent version is a re-edited and much more polished version...? I'm enjoying it. Ok, it pales in comparison to the UK version but that doesn't mean it's not entertaining on its own merits.
It's one of the few shows I'll start to watch as soon as it's finished downloading. Looking forward to next weeks show. |

Not convinced ,
just doesn't seem right, yes they have to follow the UK theme, it's like when the yanks take a show and try and turn it into their own deal, it doesn't seem the same, might as well watch the real deal. I wouldn't have a clue who any of the "stars" are on the show nor if they know what there on about, trying to copy the Clarkson one liners etc, etc like watching a cover band Just 2 cents gents |

Getting better, and I am happy to keep watching. Last night was pretty entertaining in its own right which is better than 'waiting for it to get better' in the previous eps. I wasn't perfectly 100% on my 3rd day in the job either, but the increase in quality from EP1 to EP3 is marked and a good sign of things to come.
The attitude to the 'poofteenth' seems to have given them some more cred as irreverent hosts. Some genuinely funny moments, better camera work, I like the Julia Zumero (? spelling) segment for something different and the reviews getting better. Keep getting better boys, as an Aussie motoring enthusiast I want this to work out.

I rated episode 1 a 4/10, ep 2 was a 6.5/10 and just when I thought it was getting better I say that Ep3 was a 1/10. Hopeless, I found the whole ep cringe worthy - the little guy driving the merc at the beginning - how annoying does his voice want to be? Warrens cartoons, the "what were they thinking wall", both rubbish. Thrash some high end cars for friggs sake and stop talking out of your annoying mouths.
The worst thing I hate is that unlike top gear a lot of it is starting to sound like an infomercial (like the carshow) - they wont call it like it is - say the BMW and the Merc are "utterly hopeless" or "rubbish" like Clarkson would. Both testers clearly did not like the cars and all Warren could say about the BMW was he was "undecided wether he likes it or not" then it moves to the next segement. Gutless.

Very good episode, TGA is maturing into a great entertaining car show. I skipped the SIBSC part because I wanted to see the end of the challenge. (torrented the episode, was out when it was on TV)
The challenge could have been more comprehensive, like what they did to prepare the cars, and I think the Camry not starting was a bit staged. Extra challenges like how far could it drive with a 5l jerry can of fuel, for an extra $100 who could increase their performance the most, maybe a inspection of how well it could get a blue slip, and finish it off at WSID burnout pad, which car can rip it up the best.

i caught the last 1/4 of the show on my smoko break at work. Managed a laugh, when the hosts were trying to crack jokes and the audience wasn't laughing :hihi:
although it was almost embarrasing to watch.. As for mimicking the original, yeah thats fair enough with segments, set layout etc etc, but when the hosts look/sound like they are trying to do an actual impersonation of the originals? I do hope it improves though, there's a serious lack of interesting car shows on FTA TV these days.. it seems like the powers that be have decided we need nothing more than 'cop shows' and dancing/singing/'talent' cr@p.. damn i'm glad i have foxtel |
