yeah but the big part of the prob is they always claim it doesn't need a tune, and really any cam change should have a tune, they claim mine shouldn't need a tune too.

On an AU, would a capa edit suffice as a 'tune' or is there an alternative ecu edit available to get the best out of your aftermarket cam?

I have heard mixed results. X brand cam with capa flash tune and X brand cam with something like an EMS stinger.

If getting a tune is imperative with an aftermarket cam, what tuning tool will give best results?

Its not the tool but the skill of the user. I run a haltech interceptor as I can tune the car as per my preference. With tuning at 500 plus dollars it was a cost effective tool.

last i heard crow couldn't get any new au billets to grind,so maybe they just tried to flog you something they had left sitting there.
when did you buy your cam?

crow do have some good grinds, but the ones that work need a tune.

i'd personaly stick with the hp cam ,out of the cams i've had this one isn't quite the dyno killer but its the best to drive round with.my old girl has run a 14.8 @ 93 mph without a tune.
i'd still like to try a vct cam in the hp motor one day .i reckon they'd crack for the 180 odd bucks ford charge for them.

Definatly use the capa edit shav. Heaps of stuff you can mess with on the standard ecu using one.

I bought it about 6 weeks ago out of what they told me was a fresh batch of billets. If it wasn't an au billet they sent then I had every right to send it back.

It's not that I don't like the way the car behaves now but I wanted some extra zing. I notice you run 3:89 gears so you should run that time or better it's not just down to the cam.

Read the whole thread and you will see that I have them as well as a 3 inch intake and a filter.

Doesn't matter now but Ill be taking delivery of a waggot cam early next week. The guys there have been extremely helpful

Just a little update for all keeping an eye on this thread. Last week with the waggot cam fitted and dialed the car produced 153 rwkw and at a dyno comp today it made 157. It was enough to win the na 6 bracket. Please note the car is still untuned and unopened.

I wish my car would run without a tune. I just put in a nice billet surecam, and even with Base idle wound up a third, I cant put it in drive unless its getting stalled to over 2000rpm. And its probably the slowest car Ive ever driven. See what a tune produces tomorow.

heres the dyno sheet from the weekend. the big hole around 130kp/h isnt just from the butterflies opening, the wheels actually spun on the dyno!

157rwkw's 6 cylinder, breaking traction on the rollers when they are spinning at 120ish,....... Bollocks.

when the cars weight is loaded forward because the **** of the car is in the air with no straps pulling it down, only some chocks and a strap on the front wheel. The car climbed up on the front roller on the 1st 2 runs and lost traction on the 3rd. It was one of those portable style dynos that isn't set into the floor.

That is typical of when the dyno operators do not strap the car down. Also the dyno sheet typically reads less when strapped down.

I've been told that. I've got another sheet here that reads 153 kw and the car was strapped properly. But dyno figures being what they are your always gona pick the best one.

OK that sounds like a decent result. What did the Crow cam give you by comparison?

The car should have definitely been strapped down on the dyno, but at the end of the day if you are happy with the way it performs that is all that matters.

The crow cam only gave 138 which was only a 6 kw gain and that was with extractors added.
