Absolutely no chance of that car coming over to Australia. FoA have obviously done their sums and have put all their eggs in the Mondeo basket. Same thing goes if Falcon was ever canned, then the Mondeo will be built here instead.

I'd take one of those over the Falcon, from the pics it seems better built. However the bonnet lines seem similar to those of the Chrysler Sebring.

Still not the greatest looking Ford effort. You can see some Interceptor cues in it.
FoA will not get this, as we have the mondeo.

Bloody rubbish they are - just another yank commode, indicator storks will be on the wrong side of the steering wheel (you'll get used to it)
Just like we'll have to get used to the 3 inches of front wheel drive spring travel up front.... Just rubbish - Flord US have been trying to foist this rubbish on us for years, it always fails - when will they give up the idea.....

Looks quite nice to me, a TT AWD V6 = Sales, if it has plenty of tuning potential. (Which it should)

AWD in that thing will no doubt understeer under wot lower gears, tight corners - worse than a stock Falcon V8, and not be anywhere near as fun to drive as a powerful rwd.
I personally couldn't give two bob for the perceived additional safety of awd - having owned a couple of them - boring boring boring, with very limited thrill factor. if you can't handle power through the rear wheels - attain the skills to do so. And can I suggest that the lovers wash their eyes out - and have another look at the slug ugly shape, the plainly wrong lines extending from the front end, and those kindy inspired wheels.......... Having said all of that, in a more inspiring package (body beauty) that drivetrain would make a great family hack. But auto trans, awd does not maketh the basis of performance vehicle imo. Not unless it packs GTR power and potency.......................................... without the need for an engine rebuild and plasma respray every 100k, or $1500 service after every track day (per GTR) The yanks can keep that one on their shores.

take its AWD system and shove it under a I6t MANUAL aussie Falcon. Otherwise cram it.

Doubt we'll see it here though. And if we did it would be some watered down FWD dog. Same goes for the Focus RS. I don't care how funky groovy your description of the soopah doopah LSD is; it needs AWD. Unless you are Hirvonen or Latvala... Have been thinking about what to buy as a new car when the RWD Falcon get's shot between they eyes by the bean counters as I just can't bring myself to buy a Commode...might have to save up for an M3. At least I'll still have the XB and the XR8. :

The way i see it this is the best chance for a RWD platform for the next falcon. The fact that the Taurus uses a platform that is AWD capable might actually make a new territory platform possible. Besides, the possibility of a 330ish kW AWD sedan (has to be manual!!!) is very tantalising.

As for the car, well it looks a lot better than any previous incarnation of Taurus. The C-Pillar area looks messy and unresolved in the same way the extended false trim looks out of place on the current Mazda 6 sedan and Chrysler Sebring. However the front looks well proportioned even if it does have a bit Sonata in the front facia with the grill being extremely prominent, in fact pictures do not do justice to the size of it. The interior is a highlight with Mustang design elements in the dash and symmetrical themes running through out the cabin. Ford Australia could adopt a few new tricks from the 2010 Taurus in regards to equipment like LED fog lights, SYNC, massaging heated seats, radar cruise, and blindspot warning systems. |

I think there are some design components Ford Austalia will look at taking on.
(Hopefully, not too many) I think the interior looks nice. Just nice, nothing to fancy, but nice. Car resembles either a camry, Mondeo, Lexus, or the front of a GMC Despite not looking too bad, if the Falcon continue to look more and more like other cars, i am concerned that it will lose its unique identitiy!

looks okay.. the big front end reminds me of an F-250 which has been squished down.
the driveline sounds very interesting though

It could easily be mistaken for a bulky Camry/Aurion, doesn't look sporty at all. The interior is no way near the FG and is very cluttered. Anybody who would take this over the FG is mad, especially when it's only pushing XR6 Turbo numbers.

They have said that the Taurus SHO isn't about outlandish styling with racing stripes etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMX8QCvAtdI I think Ford has proven it can do that also, with some of the SVT products. |

I quite like the WHOLE package! (Now that's a first for ANY U.S made / designed whatever car) Now all it needs to do is come to Aus!
Here's a simple photoshop I did (as I was bored + what I would do if I owned one): Original: http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/u...4x768_wa-1.jpg Chop: http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/u...x768_wallp.jpg |

So IF this did come here we would have the option of FWD, AWD, and no manual??
Yeah well I wouldn't waste my time with it and look elsewhere.

I wouldn't be counting on AWD to give better launches, in my experience with Subaru AWD it "bogs down" initially while trying to get all the transmission components wound up. That said overall AWD would be a plus. The design is quite ok if it was un-americanised, anyone who's seen the American Focus just has to reverse the changes from our Focus to that to get an idea of how it could look here.

It is a great looking car. Way better than the old version we got. But you have to remember this is the SHO model. What will the standard everyday model be running?
