On that first picture I posted up, are they the proper side skirts you blokes were mentioning of?

Would I need to get an exhaust tip if I were to get the rear bumper lip? Because I think it would look a little bizarre with out it.

and yes you would need a tip. there is a cut out, an ever so small one that would just look weird without a tip. i was gonna go tipless, but the cutout is there for it. so yeah.

Square or rectangular tips with rounded corners work well with that rear skirt, same sort of style as the T3 ones.

or if someone could photoshop what the fairmont rear bumper would look like without a cut out that would be greatly appreciated.

Do the kit. It is only a lip kit, if you don't like it take it off.
I don't think you will ruin the sleeper look, your not changing the whole front and rear bar. You are just adding to something to make it better. It's a very subtle kit anyway only AU enthusiasts will know what you have done and to others your car will look better but it won't stand out like a full body kit |

my car came with a bodykit, i didnt choose what it has, that was the previous or maybe even the owner before that who made the decision to fit an aftermarket te50 bodykit
so why is it i feel guilty everytime someone mentions a bodykit on this website? AUs look great with kits on them, if i had to start from scratch i honestly wouldnt choose the te50 kit, id go for an XR kit but i dont understand why people get so precious? a nice car is a nice car, its not a honda civic with a tonne of plastic all these people who get offended by those with different kits on their cars... do you also abuse x series gt replicas? they have done EXACTLY the same thing, done up a car in a style they like and that other reasonable people can appreciate I didnt think this forum was here to be so elitist. honestly shav your car would look sexy as hell with an XR kit, as others have said before itd really suit your colour

I like both bars to be honest but there is something that really appeals to me about the XR front. It didn't occur to me that I was "downgrading" to an XR but hey, I'd struggle to care any less about what others think, lol. We all know the old saying "opinions are like *********, we've all got one" It's a shame I'm not interested in go fast mods.... I'd probably stick an LS1 into it just for giggles But yes, the forum is becoming a lot less supportive than it used to be. It used to be a Mecca for information. It's becoming a cesspool of uninteresting people with uninteresting opinions. Mind you, that's just another uninteresting opinion ;) |

Cheers for all your comments fellas.
While I have nothing against anyone going for an XR kit or TE/TS kit etc, its personally not for me. I originally started this build with intention of making the car look like something ford SHOULD have made when the 75th Anniverary futura was released. While I agree, I havent stuck to that motto too well, I still would like to keep elements of the futura appeal close by. If that means leaving it as is, and that is the consensus based on this poll, then so be it. Another part of me thinks that the car looks far too plain to be kept with just rims a bootlip spoiler and the factory side skirts. I still believe the car needs a few touches more. Do I just bloody well do the fairmont front lip and rear bumper attachments and be done with it, or just repair the areas Im not happy with and be happy that I have achieved the original goal? This is the conflict within that is weighing on my mind.

Tickford designed the front lip to complement the rest of the kit and when combined all the bits became "the optional Tickford bodykit for the Fairmont Ghia" So being an official Factory option means theres nothing to 'feel guilty about' That kit will look tops in your color as well, and give the car a more technical/lower/fatter/wider look WITHOUT the OTT look of the T-Series kit (for example). |

Just to throw a spanner in the works..
http://www.hointerceptor.com.au/HO/HOkits.htm What about the AU front bar from them? Not to in your face but obvious enough. Maybe not the rear spoiler though...

They look ok actually. But I like the subtle flavor of the fairmont kit. Henri - yeah I dont think picking a tip off a picture is gonna cut it. Will have to look at it in the flesh and dummy a few up.

Thanks Stattic, the only issue I have now is what do do first.
Bodykit & Paint OR water to air intercooler. Bear in mind I dont have mountains of cash coming out of my anus at any given time so if one gets done I will be waiting for a while before the other. I also want to submit the car in the 2010 AFD.

But I know what you mean. The body hasnt had the attention the motor has so it might be a better option. Just means that summer will suck for performance.

Dont get me wrong, the car is fast, but when push comes to shove, in traffic, its a slug off the line due to heat. One thing I will do is put on a heat shield asap to cut the heat down from the headers regardless of what happens. As for where does it stop? Thats the $64000 question. I set a limit a while back. As far as Im concerned, I havent reached it yet. But am very close, and the w2a cooler will obliterate that goal once and for all. That beings said, the body work that I wanted to do hasnt had a look in with my attention firmly fixed on power. So maybe focussing on that instead for a while will give me a broader insight and an overall picture into where the line needs to be drawn.
