correct me if i`m wrong but one of the respected tuners did mention in a thread sometime ago that the qaulity of some 4;11 diff gears was very poor and after being built with them ended up a short time before being noisey again, anyone remember this post?

ok... been gone 2 days and my thread has gone up in flames hahahaha. So basically you are saying 1,100 is cheap for 3.73 but its basically no use (I have VCT so I assume I have 3.45) and to just go 3.9? monty, where did you get your diff done for so cheap etc?

i bought a ute LSD complete diff from AFF for $300, i bought gears from AFF for $300 and im paying $7-800 for the diff to be set up with new oil, new bearings and shims to fit sedan. and they are fitting it too
the price is so good because they dont outsource the work

A couple of points - I think The Monty's point is that you can't get much indication of condition (unless its really bad) of diff gears from a visual inspection.
kratas, sounds like they are ignoring using second-hand gears which is their prerogative. The 3.73 gear ratio sounds a bit odd to me - I'd associate that ratio with the M86 diff not the M78 you have. Having said that, they might be available from South Africa! I think the best advice is get a second (& third) opinion. |
