Over 1 lap anywhere the Falcon...
Give it two or three laps as you adjust for massive brake fade and the 'I can't go as fast it smells like I am killing it' Falcon syndrome vs the Rolla with the same brake pedal and the 'I can rev the butt out of it and it still wants more' ....... Over a three lapper the Rolla would be a mile in front.

OK... You'd loose that first lap advantage getting the heat and feel into the pads, but by then the trans would be blinking (D) , take me home I'm too hot :(

Practically everything mechanically in FG XR6s is either brand new/updated/heavily revised except for the rear suspension and brakes. The Barra 195/ZF auto combo makes the current model much more potent than a BA, so I wouldn't put money on a stock BA beating the 'Rolla. Current FG XR6 would give a BA XR6 Turbo a big scare.

FG would leave the BA for dead. Better acceleration and handles much better.

Childish.

You should probably buy the current model before you start having a go at him for having an FG XR6 on his Ps, which I might add is worth more than your car anyway.

Why don't you and your mate just go to a sprint day at your closest track and find out for sure?

You will learn many things including:

1) Which vehicle is faster, more reliable and more resilient.
2) Just how good or bad a driver you and he actually are.
3) Just how fast or slow you and your FG are compared to a whole range of different drivers and vehicles.

Regardless of any results you will be a better driver after than before......

Go on, talking the talk is easy......now walk the walk.....

^ Whooaa there Flappist, actually going to the track and testing it ?!!! W T H

It is MUCH easier just talking about it (safer for the EGO too!).

Both cars would most likely end up getting smashed by a race prepped Dato 1600 or similar.

My mates stock Nissan Tida auto did a 1:30 around Mallala for a laugh.Suprised alot of people,he is a good driver though.

My money would be on the Corolla.

A race prepped Great Wall ute would beat both.

People dont understand how brakes can be smashed in a couple laps with these big cars, yes you can be a little more conservative but that just gives the upper hand to the other vehicle obviouslly, especially if they arent holding back as much.

I have a funny one for you,

I had a STANDARD Hyundai accent, and have beaten RACE prepared V8 Rally AU3 aussie class rally car on the autocross track at Avalon. He had no chance. Over 2 km, the accent is about 3 seconds quicker. And yes, the driver of the falcon is a race car driver.

So even a hyundai accent can beat a falcon (if it was a standard one (even a new fg xr6), would have beaten it by far far more)

(i can drive too though... lots of experience :-) )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fdbk8rl0O_o

you can see the falcon and accent here. Falcon looks cool, but is slower.

This.

The rolla can rev all day long and not miss a beat, and the brakes are brilliant for factory standard brakes (when the dealer remembers to put the calipers back on after cleaning dust, but that's another story).

my pros

lower centre of gravity
over double the torque
my suspension is quite alot more advance than his

his pros

car is lighter
and revs to 8,750 (if that helps)

both cars nearly have the exact same kw/tonne ratio

Then do an "advanced driver training" day. As you are under instruction your insurance is still valid and you will get more out of it than just an ego boost.

John Bowe (the FPV track day providers) do a rather good one and a reasonable price.

Oh and just an observation, if maximum torque was the major component in determining track capability they would be racing bulldozers at Bathurst.....

If you don't have torque, wouldn't you just substitute it for rev's?

Ie. where you come out at 2500-3000RPM, he might come out at 5000-6000 RPM.

Different torque levels, however you might still be producing similar power at the time.

yeah i mean the good thing is that i have max torque from 3000 untill like 5500 then max kw at like 6000 something like those figures but he gts max torque and kw and like 6500 until 7500 so my power would cover the range more :P

Lol, yes mate, the first person that saw it, bought it, how can they not buy when it was so immaculate thanks to this awesome detailer I know .

It's been about six weeks now and the missus is really missing it, it's been replaced by an AUIII wagon as below.

Bought my car as an ex-demo 5 years ago, and its out the door in October... Sorry for not having upgraded every year? FWIW, I would hope a 2 year old car was worth more than a 6 year old car...

So, all the following is free, then?
- 19" rims painted black(I am sure the powerhouse N/A I6 was far too much for the stock 245's!11one)
- Blue parkers (lucky the Police haven't pulled you for that)
- Turbo badge (really?)
- Colour ICC is $1600 you will never get back either.

nope, no rice there... One thing that comes with age is a realization that things like the above are just throwing good money after bad.

Also, when have I claimed my car is a 'beast'? I hate the bucket of *****, have done for years, just been a battle to get the payout to a sensible level, given Falcon's resale figures that resemble used toilet paper... october cannot come quick enough for me.
