i like the raptor 345rwhp from mine with the basic tune. been 2yrs and hasn't missed a beat. very nice looking kits that can be polished and anodised. have a look at the picture of mine in the for sale thread to c how it mounts and fits inside the engine bay.

That's great power.
With mind I have been running a conservative 7lbs at the s/c. Not sure what it is at the engine after the intercooler. Still on stock internals on both the engine and box. Only a measily 275rwhp/205rwkw but its still going strong after the past 2 and a bit years with some sympathetic driving.

I spoke to my tuner today and said i'm keen on getting a s/c for the ute and am looking at the Raptor kit. He told me he has seen many Raptors fail on the dyno ( belts breaking, raptor itself failing ). He said spend the extra and go Vortech ... I told him alot of guys on here seem happy with the Raptor and have had no problems but he still stuck by his word on the Vortech ..

Have had my Raptor on for over a year and so far so good...........I think the internal belt break is due to having the bov wound to tight and when you back off quick the throttle blade slams shut the bov cant vent enough backed up air charge and something has to give.
As XR23IL said and what Ive read the newer Raptors have lighter weight internals so less stress on the belt than earlier models.

I have the older unit on my car. run a 25mm bov and minimal boost and its still goin strong. the internal belt will need changing at 70,000 roughly. so I'll probably get mine done at years end as well some additional enhancements to the unit to help it spool up quicker.
As for the comments of raptors being unreliable I think its heresy unless you have seen it happen. but that's just my opinion.

Sadly I have seen it happen with my unit....cooked the "high speed ceramic bearings" at around 5000rpm. Tim fixed the problem and advised me they had been supplied with a batch of inferior bearings, so the newer units should all be good now (mine is about 18 months old)

I've been in contact with Tim from Raptor. He will be away for a month from 23rd of April and is flat out getting orders out before then so he's taking my order from June 1st so it's all happening.

I believe due to the raptor not being cooled but a sealed unit it will never be as reliable as the vortechs ect. however ive never heard many bad things and whenever i have tim has usualy fixed the issues promptly and with minimal fuss and i will be raptoring mine when money allows especially now theyve been improved!

I'm looking at injectors and i found a set on ebay from site sponsor BPRacing, they are 39lb, have a Ford racing & Bosch part number but require injector adaptors to suit the AU. Are these ok to use as in wont effect any performance etc?

This is what I have, 39lb genuine Ford SVT cobra Injectors go straight on so no need for adaptors..........Got them from the states and cost under $450 landed but cant remember were I got them from and cant find receipt sorry. ...........0208 156 127 is the actual part number you can use for a search.

Ok just waiting for email replies from the US regarding injectors ...
What about fuel pump? XR23IL runs the standard pump and pulls 345rwhp, am i going to get away with the standard pump? |

yep walbro are pretty comon, GSS341 is the one you need. You will also need an "INTANK" fuel hose, cant stress enough about this as even mechanics dont understand the difference between EFI fuel hose and intank.
Bosch 044 is the other fuel pump, rated a bit more flow then the walbro. but about $2xx or so. Walbro will do just fine. Yup already checked US ebay, $400 a bit expensive i thought. Trying to source around for something not as much. Also on the topic of injectors, EV1 and EV6. Is there a difference in spray pattern with EV6 being the better? |

Could only be good if you did a fuel pump upgrade...........I went the Walbro gss294 which flows 270LT/HR
A rising rate adjustable fuel reg would be a good idea to, something like the Aeromotive # 13103 is a goodie...........But just a heads up with the allen head mounting screws as they are different thread to the original ones, if you go a new fuel reg take it down to your local fastener shop to get something to fit, have a receipt for what you need 10-32UNF x 3/8..........Hope that helps cause it may as well be in Japanese for me.
