LINK A base Impala is probably going to weigh the same as a VE Commodore so the advantage will be having E-Assist which is one up from stop start with some low power electric launch and a 2.4 I-4 engine.. IMO, Ford's Ecoboost 2.0 Achieves the same sort of thing but has more fun factor.. |

The big question is.... Will it come with optional front bench seat? Currently around a quarter of Impalas are optioned with a bench seat.

Having see a few pictures now, it looks much better in dark colours than light ones.
A black makes it look quite sporty, where as a white makes it look bloated and unwieldy - just my opinion.

Personally I think the front end looks ok, not too keen on that pop up BS in the dashboard, looks bloody stupid, just what we need, more techno-****ery to distract drivers.

Not bad for a Camry/Hyundai type clone. Rather the new Fusion/Mondeo personally. This is a bigger car though isn't it?

Few American cars still offer front bench seats. Seatbelt laws and airbags make them impractical.

The front 3/4 pic reminds me of Maxima down the side and rear, ie terrible. The only shot that it looks ok from is directly in front.

I am disappointed, I was hoping that GM had it together now. Sure, it's much better than the outgoing model, but that's expected. The Taurus is much better. The only Chevys I would buy today are the Silverado HD Duramax diesel and the Camaro SS. But I would take a new Mustang over a Camaro.

Well... our rival is dead. This is the new Commodore. Faux Wheel Drive is just gonna make it sad. And I feel for the red team. They thought we were gonna budge but Ford still hasn't said anything. And if Ford commit to the Falcon I'll laugh my bag out from now till the day I die.
Now let's talk about this car. Some say it's horrible. I say... not so. This car is a very much a blend of what's out there already... so you have to look for a badging to know what it is. But that's what they're all doing these days. And for a Chevy... it's a huge step up. The current Impala looks like a car from ten or more years before. Observe: That is from there own website and they aren't ashamed to put that up there! So this new Impala is a huge leap from the old. Much more pleasant on the eye. And IMO. prettier than the Taurus.

The current Impala (the one in your picture) doesn't look like a police car even when graphics are applied and lights are added.
But officers say they do the job well. I know of one in Texas who actually praises its handling.

Well, it's a lot better than the old one, which was foul. I still wouldn't have one in a pink fit though.

Looks better than the 'Fudeo' and any Yank Ford with the exception of the LW Focus, but that's not saying much. Does anyone else think that the 'Impala' lettering on the side of the Chev could be easily replaced with 'Aurion'?

In fact, the overall size of new Impala aligns with our Falcon and Malibu with Mondeo.. I'm hearing word that Chevrolet will continue building the old MK 9 Impala for fleets and keep the new Impala for retail sales.. |

I have a feeling that six cylinder sales will polarize to I-4 Ecoboost or to a V8 option as people seek economy or performance. A slightly smaller Falcon with lotsa I-4 EB sales, a few V8 sales and of course Territory continuing with EB I-4 and V6 diesel.. Modified Mondeo top hats on Falcon E8 floor pan and running gear would make a nice Taurus.. All we have to do is convince the US that would make a nice Lincoln luxury sedan... IMHO, theres not enough glass to body on the side profile in both the GM and Ford. Too heavy looking. This is where the FG still looks better balanced. I'd like it if someone could 'chop an FG with the front overhang halved.
