I thought it was a little earlier than that, I joined just after I brought a new just released 03 BA XLS V8 ute?(1st BA V8 ute in SA)
Its not my original join date(its when I changed to ST170ish)on the side there as I made a mistake and got booted off by Laminge and Russ, got reinstated after a 6mth cooling off period and some groveling on my part Ah yes thats right it was Ford Forums... too long ago tis why I no remember Last edited by XP6; 04-07-2012 at 08:00 PM. |

Think I joined in 2005 after picking up the AU2 Ghia... I'm amazed how quickly the time has passed since then !

Been a good place, mind you I think we could lighten up a little these days... Anyhow, I am more a reader than anything, so thanks to everyone who has put the effort in... New Fords are even worse than they were in 2005, but at least we still have the old ones...

Haven't heard or read any posts from HSE2 for a few months now. Always enjoyed and respected his input.

AFF also kicked off with a whole pack of us owners of the then-new Territory, refugees from the US site. And it's been good ever since, thanks Russ.
Of interest in the early days was a member of the Territory project from Ford who managed to keep his identity secret for a while until we "outed" him lol! Another was an ex-Ford person who'd gone over to Toyota and forever promoted the beauties of the Kluger on AFF. I used to enjoy throwing internal dimensions stats at him. He went quiet after a Kluger fell over in a Wheels test. All the technical advice has been great. |

This site is well run and has grown into a great community with their own interests in Ford. We all enjoy being here and I must say I have not been back to the USA site since defecting as one of the original members.
How do I find my member number ? Thanks to Russ and the Mod team.

I only joined because I bought an AU Falcon, and somebody linked me to aufalcon.com - March 2007. I then saw a link saying "Forums" which of course led to the AU part on here and the rest is history...
2004 - when AFF was started - well, I was drinking heavily, partying stupidly, spending most of my weekend either smashed or hungover and driving a 1988 Colt because I cared not for cars, I just had something cheap to run and easy to drive when I actually COULD drive. I used public transport for work so the car barely got used anyway. Then when that died and I had to drive mum's Camry for a year (I'd share it with her, like I said, its not like I NEEDED a car, it was just nice sometimes to have one) I decided to get something half respectable, and the AU was purchased. I look back at that life and all the epic times I had, all the parties and laughs, and I sometimes miss it. But it was joining AFF, and becoming part of a car community, that settled me down a lot, got me into cars & cruising, and introduced me to a whole new range of friends, people I wouldn't have met if I hadn't joined this forum. I've now been a DM for two years (I think?) and attended the last two Drag Nationals in Heathcote - with full intention of attending future events too. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm glad the people who started this forum did so. Looking at the stats of the forum I'm sure they're proud of themselves for building a community so large, diverse and popular. I'm also glad I found it and joined. While I still like to go out and party (as a few of you would know!), its now limited compared to what it used to be - all because of my love of cars. Now while I've always had a love of cars, it didn't manifest much until I bought that AU and joined this forum. Enough dribble from me now though, off to search for more VNs. As it is my secret desire to overthrow this forum into a VN paradise ;) EDIT: 5 Digit user number. Reminds me of how elite I though I was when I had a 6 digit ICQ number...
