Sunday now Well all was going well with the stud mount Valve removing tool works reasonable well .Handy hint #1 No air needed just place a thin wire or similar down the plug hole and turn the motor over at the balancer till the piston reaches TDC the valve sits on the piston and the collets are easy enough to remove, #2 use a Magnetic tool to lift the collets out save"fat finger" syndrome and firing them into oblivion #3 Who new there is 2 different types of springs some GTP40s run the same In, and exh. some don"t guess who"s don't so back to the speed shop tomorrow.

MMM. Interesting. Both the 185kw Stock and 250kw T3 I have done had the same height inlet and exhaust! 220s are turning out to be quite a variation on the other Au V8s.

Stu
Well guessed you figured by now Stu if it easy and normal it aint mine

Just had me main man check it all out for me, as it turns out Stu Mine runs a rotating collet on the Exhaust valve, this allows it to rotate the valve dissipating the heat better or so they think So we can either go the shorter springs or change the coletes to suit , as both the springs that have let go in the life of the motor have been the shorter ones thinking we may go the change over collet route

Hey Whoosha how do those eagle lead's compare to other's on the market, and ones like MSD (although they have to be special made don't they ?).

Well not sure yet but they were purchased and recommended by some one who should know, retailing around the $280 mark I hope so, yes they are a "ordered in" item with the ends to suit the MSD packs and a double heat sock at the plug end .

I still don't have a MSD pack on mine yet, still have all the original gear but I was looking into the pack and lead's, and heard mixed review's, so it would be good to hear your thought's in time mate.

Correct in that the MSD's have to be actually made to suit the car, the Eagle leads you can get off the shelf to suit the AU V8's.

MSD, Eagle or ICE would be my choices combined with the MSD packs.

FWIW, I went with ICE leads with MSD coils and I like 'em. They fit in the original heat shields and mount nicely within the original lead-tidy fittings.

http://stores.ebay.com.au/enginemasteraustralia search in the store for 'AU ICE'

Delivered under $200.

Galaxy i didn't break anything but split my thumb open got 6 stitches was a fair effort. whoosha actually coached me through the job after i busted my thumb.

whoosh. how you going mate. finished or what? pretty sure seeing as you've pulled your motor down a few times now. you should put some go fast bits in it.

Mean while back in the back yard things are going to plan NOT ! Turns out broken stud has no intention of coming out and its been joined with 1/2 a drill bit as well so with a in depth discussion with my self an the motion being second by AU1XLS . off come the lot again with a trip to the machine shop next week Sounded easy enough till the Header bolt snapped off as well on the up side of a tuff day it's on the same head as the stud so the he can do 2 for the price of 1 and we now know that just doing the one spring would have been easier, BUT it would have had the wrong spring in it So only 2 pluses on a day of negatives
