Yeh I think so to, just sort of got my head around the G6 thing and I think I like it more, the Fairmont and fairlane are a thing of the past, lets leave em there.

But on the other hand, I can't see why there shouldn't be a fully sick untamed all balls finale GTHO

Because the Fairmont name has heritage. G6? What's that?

If I told people I drove a Fairmont, they don't have to be a Ford nut to understand that a Fairmont is a "premium" Falcon, whereas if I told people I drive a G6, I'd get blank looks.

Since the next Falcon is going to be the last one, why not bring back the Fairmont name for old time's sake?

They already named the whole current generation after the Fairmont Ghia...what more do you want.

i'm hoping the back end doesn't stray to far from the current model, it looks ok, better than the Taurus at least.

Am I the only one who likes it or something?

Half of you guys would probably prefer it to have 4 round sealed beams on the front or something haha.

It looks nice but I'd prefer not to have an obvious Taurus mockup trying to pass as a Falcon.

If you told people you drove a Fairmont they would automatically assume you were boring and old...

Thats why Ford ditched it, and it worked to a degree. I would hate to think how poorly the FG would have done in the early days if they had not done the G6 / G6E Turbo thing.

No. It's too close to the HSV. I'd sooner buy a HSV and stick a chev badge on it than stick a ford badge on a car that resembles a Holden.

that image has been posted plenty of times now, its the taurus sho photoshopped with gt wheels & stripes..
lets be honest we wont see any real teasers until mid next year, till then everything else is a taurus image supplied by motor mag.
cant wait to see the last falcon & i hope that ford send it off with a bang, but i wont be buying one. & i doubt they will,

There's a media event being hosted by Ford on 13 August in Sydney where they are going to lay out their "future vision" for Australia and the hot tip is the 2014 Falcon may either get revealed at this event or at the very least they will start a real-deal teaser campaign.

ford need to confirm the next model asap as aussie sedan buyers are all reading the new VF is much better than the outdated FG so for fence sitters they may buy the VF now, but if ford say they are releasing the FH (FU sounds better) early 2014 they may wait for the better car. most buyers will keep the car 3 years on a lease so this will be the last Aussie sedan or ute they buy.
what happened back in the day ford and holden produced models at similar times? XD-VB, EA-VN, AU-VT, now holden gets the new model out first and gets all the hype

Ford has already told us it is coming Qtr3/4 of 2014. I can't see Ford putting in extra money to improving on that timing seeing that Ford has already walked away from Falcon.

I saw my first live VF SS last weekend at the local supermarket. Had seen it on ad's and stuff, thought 'looks good'.

Seeing the car in real life I just thought it looked odd, unbalanced, doesn't gel visually front to back. Which got me thinking why make a car that looks like the rear and front were designed in different studios, unless they're trying to work in styling queues from possible replacements while not blowing huge $?

Which makes me think if anything is coming in to part fill Falcons shoes, that'll be what drives the design of the final car. Cues which will lead into the incoming vehicle, taking some of the shock of change out of it. And of course Ford have been playing the global design cue game for some time with the local product anyway. Just a maybe, but looking at VF I keep thinking thats what it's about.

But jeez, who wouldn't want something like the photochop above? Maybe there is hope for it.

be nice if they did a reveal, after all that way those who like what they see will wait till then or if they dont like it may hop out & buy the fg. id be suprised if they did a reveal , after all if it looks way better than the fg they will have killed off the fg 12 months earlier than planned for!

That's my plan, but in any event I don't think the FH/whatever is going to look crap and with the stuff it will have it will be worth waiting for IMO. I'm leaning strongly towards a manual XR6T, but if they bring the XR8 back/can the GS then I may swing that way.

Spotted one in Kilsyth this afternoon, grabbed my attention the moment I saw it. Think global Ford look meets modern tough Aussie awesomeness. Easily the best looking Falcon since XW GT.

Be great if more people looked at glasses that are 1/2 full! The FG was first, the VF was second ...........

The 2014 Falcon will be the one leading the charge. They will be the newer model in 14 months time ... the the VF will be the older model. GM and Ford have always leap frogged each other. Who is first or second depends on who is playing the catch up!!!

They are the ones playing catch up and it took 5 years to finally match or better the FG. The VE was bordering on 8 years old and competed against the B series!!!!! Remember them????? Was a long time ago.

Read some FG vs VF reports and (amazingly to some) the FG still holds its head up quite well.

Why show your hand so early out? Want to completely decimate Falcon sales?

Said many times but the FALCON has been the back bone for FORD for so long. The people that are so called ford lovers and say that big deal the falcon is going arent truely ford fans or they say im going to buy a vf or some crap like that arent true ford fans!!!

Ever since the BA holden was on the back foot... More and more government money and of coarse the vf will have the best gimmicky crap like park assist.
