Mustang.......what's that, probably something all F6 drivers will get used to seeing in their rear vision mirror

I don't think you'll be doing your little happy dance when the Mustang gets here, if you're still revelling in the former glory of your F6.

Mustang is the car of the future mate, there's big things destined for this car. It'll be the one to beat and the one setting the benchmark in terms of performance and aftermarket capability- mark my words.

You look at what they're doing with them now, let alone when the new engines come with them next year.

These will be a force and at the end of the day- they are not only a Ford, they will be THE Ford.

Keeping this as if we were at the 'pub'. The Mustang maybe the future but it won't be part of my future hence why I didn't wait for the Mustang. Regarding aftermarket capability, the sky is the limit if someone wants to mod an F6.....look at what BTA etc is doing now.

Bog stock is my thing, if I'm sitting behind a semi approaching an overtaking lane with a mustang with me I'll be dancing for a little longer unless it's a shelby when we both 'boot' it.

I'm keeping my eye on some of the American muscle soon to hit our shores but it won't be the mustang for me. No denying the Mustang is a nice car but it's definitely not on my list. Cheers

If anything the Mustang will leave the F6 for dead. The current one is a belter, add more power and torque and drop what is supposed to be 100+ kg out of it and the new one will be even more of a belter. It will walk an F6 no problem.

It makes more power, and will be lighter by at least 200 kg.

No doubt the F6 is an absolute belter, but I think it's fair to say in stock form it feels like the engine is 11/10 and the rest of the car is 7/10.

The Mustang might feel like more of a complete machine, given the whole kit and caboodle was designed for big power from the outset.

I like sedans tho, so dunno what will fill that gap - something from the US I would guess....

Thats funny , I was under the impression the mustang until very recently was still running a live axle .

The last time I looked at an imported 2012 Mustang I was horrified by the poor quality fit and finish, the hopeless ergonomics, and the interior appearance that seemed years out of date.

So I didn't need to turn the key and actually drive the thing to decide that it was a piece of junk. Typical of current American cars.

Maybe it goes well, maybe it doesn't, but who cares if the package was sooo out of date. It's not 1966 anymore you know!! Ford US have not quite figured this.

The current F6 (mine is Kinetic) is not perfect, but its a long way ahead of a Mustang.

Indeed it did, although I do remember Ford at the time saying they'd listened to their customers, who preferred a live axle for drag racing...

This time around it appears more customers want IRS for some reason - although they are still going to offer a live axle version for the hardcore drag racer...

This is true, although I reckon some of the Thai Built Ford ''Europe" products ie Focus, Kuga etc definitely feel better built than the Australian made stuff.

Dunno where RHD Mustangs will be built, but I'd say build quality globally seems to be improving...

That's the thing ill be looking at, build quality on the mustang. Some people get blinded by the mustangs looks they go all gaga because its something different I love the looks too, but I am yet to see one with decent build quality. Hopefully ford proves me wrong

considering the a fully loaded 2015 GT mustang is just below 40K US... dont be surprised if we get them around 55-60k here... which is F6 prices.. it will out perform a Stock F6 all day long, no issue.. then if you want to talk modded vs modded... you think Turbos are modded here... think of how modded the mustang is in america. its one of the most modded vehicles on the planet!!! and something the yanks do well is.. power in a straight line!

Saying that... the F6 is a nice bit of kit as well and really is in a different market place then the Mustang. the F6 is fast.. but the stang will be faster.. and i am big F6 fan! hell i considered buying one, but just didn't have enough features for me and the price they we askin at the time was too much for it (65kish).. but the 55k on the run-outs is the right price and that was the price for them when i was lookin, i would have 1 in the garage now in place of my 300.

and hell we might get the new GT500 or whatever its called for around 80k here (fingers crossed) considering the 662hp - 200mph car 2013 model is 55k in the US..

at the end of the day, both cars are great and do their jobs well... a affordable fast large 4 door sedan after 16/17.. there wont be much choice, which will be a real change.. considering right now, we have the XR6t/F6/GS/GT n the holden stuff as well available!

I still have no interest at all in the new Mustang. Mustang means nothing to me.

That said I'd take a 69 Fast back.

No idea why Falcon drivers are suddenly embracing thee Mustang as the replacement car of choice.

Kinda like a Fiesta replacing a Territory, completely different car.

As much as I hate to admit it, the new model (S550) gets an IRS way more advanced than our Falcon. The S197 (Current model) still has the primitive live axel, however it was still sufficiently capable of giving a BMW M3 a very good run for its money around a race track (see below)

The current 5.0 N/A coyote revs hard & fast ALL the way to 7k, and has a conservative 313Kw (420Hp), the new model is expected to gain another 30-50Hp.

As the new Mustang GT has superior performance to the BOSS 302 (according to Ford - with 0-100Ks in 4.0 sec for the BOSS 302), which in turn is a BMW M3 Killer on track, this might shed some light on the potential performance we can expect from the new GT 5.0:

Boss 302 Vs M3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVNREOBqcVc

And this is a comparison of the base GT (early 412Hp version - they later went to 420 Hp std) Vs M3 (there is a Vid link in the article)

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...m3_comparison/

I know who will be doing the smug little dance against the new Mustang 5.0 GT.......and it definitely will NOT be you in your F6. Furthermore, the impending GT350 (with a rumored 8,500 RPM 600+ HP FPC 5.2) will destroy the standard GT, so where does that leave your F6? Behind.

Hmm lets see... Made by Ford, rear wheel drive, kick *** V8, great modifying potential.

Just maybe, not all Falcon owners need four doors, five seats and a tow bar.

I just secured one!!! Manual Due to be delivered mid July. Guessing its going to be one in the last handful out of there! Can't wait/sleep!
And as far as the mustang goes, I would much rather have a peice of Aussie history in my garage any day of the week. Once they shut those factory doors they will never open again. I'd rather be able to show my kids what kind of cars we used to be able to build in Australia rather than driving them round in an import with no local tie's or history.

Considering the 'crappy' F6 rear has been praised by endless motoring journos as 'near on perfect' for Australian roads for years maybe 'crappy' isn't the best word. There are big dollar cars running far more advanced rears than the F6 that when driven out here have received ****house reviews in comparison to the F6.

420hp from a 5-Litre naturally aspirated V8 is pretty decent and I wouldn't exactly call it a "conservative" tune.

That said, I don't think the current BOSS 302 motor can be pushed much further in terms of making more power because it actually makes less torque than the current Mustang GT. (515Nm vs 529Nm).

Anyways, back on topic....
