Where's the cop
? 600kw and they didn't even tell us where they installed it! I'll look out for the mounting holes when this thing ends up on Pickles in a few years. |

Does anyone know what they did with the auto? I assume the police won't be flogging it, so the risk of it breaking are small. But at that power you'd think the tail shaft and auto had a tickle

I guess wheel spin is your friend here, it would break loose pretty damn easy putting less load on the box?
If you had traction with high power is that when you'd have serious issues? |

Quick search on Google and it would appear to be associated with Dept of Transport, so yes it is ultimately tax payer funded. People would have to be smoking vast quantities of illegal stuff to think DJR/Ford/Herod or any other commercial organisation would subsidise (be a charity) towards the building of this vehicle for the coppers.

More kW = more promotional value.

Didn't FPV or Ford state that the FG chassis was not strong enough to cope with a tuned coyote, hence 351kw was about the limit before the firewall would start bending?

Oh guys really...terrorists must be quiet today.
I dont know about the GTF but the 911 was loaned by Porsche, so the only costs would be rigging it up. Allegedly it helps break the ice (pun) when they are out and about, police then start quizzing and people feel more inclined to speak about things. Its not for NFS style pursuits..no matter how cool that might be.

I came into the thread hoping to read about a fast Ford, police car or not. Thankfully all your posts reminds me how much power it has I do get your feels Mr Cheap, but as others said, write a letter away voicing your concerns.

It's not so much a waste but a miss use of the funds at this point in time.
I am all for these promotional cars (how often do you get to see a cop car with 600kw?), my gripe is, I suppose it is more in Vic than anything, that all these emergency services departments are constantly on about pay rises, funding and other such items. Even striking about it and in the case of the Ambulance services, writing their messages all over the vehicles. Yet the government (and possibly) these agencies are ok with funding the purchase and development of a modified car of which I am sure many members of the associated services enjoy the use of.

All this bellyaching about wasting Taxpayer funds on a promotional vehicle !
(I don't know why anyone outside of NSW is bothered, unless it's just to get their post count up, as it's the NSW Police ) Yet no one bothers to mention the 3 big Winnebago's they have for Drug testing when they could have used a similar Australian brand for a third if the price !!

Great to see the Boys in Blue in a Ford product. Deep down they are just a bunch of rev heads as well.....
I have fond memories of many a constable pulling me up in my old ESP "just to have a look" With the shoe being on the other foot now, I imagine people trying to call them over for assistance "just to have a look". With all the cr@p going on in the world now, this is hardly a disturbing topic. Plenty of taxpayers dollars " really" being wasted in millions of other mindless ways. An 800 HP ford GT cop car......I reckon that's cool as. Modern day Mad Max.....no way candalini would catch that thing to get his hand back..... |

I earnt 65k last year. In my tax return rundown it showed where the money went.
About $400 went to emergency services. Lets make it $420 to make these calculations easier. $420 / 3 (Police, Ambulance, Fire service) = $140 to each emergency service. 7 States have these services. So $140 / 7 = $20 In Queensland, we have 11000 police. This equals 0.18 of 1 cent. Lets round that up to .2 of ONE CENT!!!!! I would happily give you back your .2 of one cent for you to just sop whingeing and let me drive the car!!

Tuned?
WTF does tune mean these days? Did Dick throw in a set of pugs, and do an oil change to get it to 600kW? Who built the engine / car? Dick or someone else? If a car gets a respray do we now simply call it "washing" the car? When you restore a car you just say it was tuned and washed. |
