I'm sure a more "experienced" officer could have dealt with this a little differently........
license check, should have taken at least half an hour, then a roadworthy maybe another half an hour, must be something out of order to make the car stay there with a canary ..... without the driver. I'm pretty sure I seen a bit of hooch in there somewhere.......best pull the car apart to check it out. he may then learn to keep his intellectuality disconnected mouth shut next time he comes across an officer simply doing his job. put your "P" plates on and grow up......you generally get what you give when dealing with this situation.... well done that officer... I hope this idiots picture is on the wall of the smoko room in the local cop shop.

Problem is you are adding fire the the mentality of "cops are bad" when you over do it.
Get them for what they have done, slap the fine and move on...not worth going to their level. This is all dependent on what they did to get pulled over in the first place.

that mentality will exist regardless of how any officer behaves in any situation.
police are people first and foremost, abuse me and watch the outcome, it is only training and discipline that defines the difference between the officer and myself. there will always be a sector of the community that simply rebels against authority and has the misguided thought process that they can do whatever they like, wherever they like......hooning is a great example. I don't know how many times I have witnessed this idiotic process from within the confines of these very walls.... respect for any authority has dwindled to a point where we are losing our police officers, ambulance officers, teachers and volunteer personnel......I am witnessing it here in our town. ambo's, for example, go out to help some bugger and get abused or even assaulted trying to simply do their job.......if it was me I would simply walk away and leave the victim to his/her destiny. officers of old demanded respect, not only for the uniform (we were taught to respect that from a very young age) but also the physical size.......coppers used to be monsters. respect for everything and everything has gone out the window, respect for self along with it. like it or not, the world is now a horrible place to be......fools are dominating, with the goody two shoes backing up their every move. when I was a young feller and if I spoke to a copper like that I would have got a boot in the freckle from the copper, then the copper would have paid a visit to my folks and I would have got another, harder one from my father. of course nowadays they can't do that as it is "abuse".

Did I deserve it? Yes Did I learn a lesson? Yes Did I prefer it to a night in the cells and possible record? Yes Did I have blood in my urine for 2 days? You guessed it, yes. No tying up court time, no paperwork and he was freed up to deal with more important things. Half their job seems to be wasted on minor stuff that could be dealt with at the scene in 5 minutes and a lot less expense to the tax payer. |

They're human, and just like some are good blokes, others are complete power-tripping tossers. When my dad had a crash (not his fault), the cop in question had already made up his mind that my dad was the cause. He refused to tell me anything about his condition, wouldn't tell me if my mum was in the car with him (couldn't contact her), and told me to **** off. He'd only behave like that with a badge to hide behind.

I gave everybody a wide berth and didn't point out any race or religion. The equation is simple...I don't care what nationality or religion you follow, if you carry on in a socially unacceptable manner, you need to be dealt with. And I'm not quite sure what you meant by, "And i'm still pretty sure its the more imbedded Australians who demand politically correct rather than the new arrival.".

Look JAJH I agree with what you're saying, but I think your comments about religion went a little too far (unless I misunderstood it). People should be free to practice any religion they choose so long as they don't force it down people's throats. But I agree if someone chooses to come to this country they should adjust to the culture instead of trying to push their own agenda or try and change the laws because they don't like them. Not all muslim people act this way, and I'm sure there's quite a few of them who were born here and respect and follow the Australian way of life just like any other Aussie.

Also, there are enough "We Love Australia" people who treat cops like crap! We sending them all to Christmas island now? Its nothing to do with overseas cultures... Its part of the Gen Y problem.

It's not a Gen Y thing... Having said that this kind of knuckle dragging mentality is becoming far to previlent for my liking... Sad truth is that it seems to be all to common in certin ethnic groups. All comes back to upbrining.

If anything, these dirt bags could be Christian Lebanese for all we know??? Are you going to blame Christianity for their vulgar behavior? Lets not forget this sort of behavior IS FAR TOO COMMON AMONG BOGANS AS WELL... Yet, I don't see anyone criticizing them. The double standards are astonishing. I don't think a lot of people have much appreciation for police because for the most part their only dealings with them are likely to do with traffic matters.
No one likes to cop a fine (even if it is trivial) but man up and cop it. If you have a grievance then take it up with the proper channels and if need be have your day in court. They're certainly not going to exercise any form of discretion when you have an attitude like that. It is absolutely pointless arguing about it. |

Some people feel the need to put on a false facade, an attitude to compensate for their inferior complexity. What's so hard to understand about this?

Just becuase they are police doesn't suddenly reduce the danger or level of distraction while using the phone while driving. The "physics" remains the same. Uniform or not.

So I can use my phone whilst driving? Also how exactly do you know what they were using their phone for? I'm pretty sure if it was an emergency they would be using their radio instead.
