I saw FORD V FERRARI tonight.
Not a lot of romance just a lot of guys dicking around with cars and racing them. I though it was fantastic, it's not a documentary it's Hollywood. I found it very entertaining. Do yourself a favour, go see it!

IMHO unless you have a serious home theatre it is worth paying to watch on the big screen. The sight and sound of the race cars is money well spent. I'm sure there is some CGI in there but hey it’s about entertainment. The mate I went with has just built a fantastic home theatre, but really wanted to see this on the big screen.

Going to Titan Luxe at Reading cinema at Charlestown at 4.30. Any other Ford Forum members in Newie who have an itch to get away from work/missus etc and get a fuel octane blast at 4.30 more than happy to catch up in a group etc. If you interested send me a pm and we can meet up at Charlestown etc. Cheers for now

No spoilers
I think opinions/reviews are personal preference and can often be influenced by preconceptions. American Graffiti is among my favourite films. Some would describe it as American cheese.

In one a car sat within a "trolley" trailer just barely off it's real wheels and was towed behind another vehicle while stunt drivers drove the other race cars around it. In another reveal imagine a mock up race car from nose to the b-pillar with the actor in the car, cameraman and equipment sitting behind in a small platform, all as one mobile unit. The whole setup i.e. the mock up and camera unit/camera man can drive around independantly amongst the other race cars. I'd suggest watching some of the movie promo videos as it shows how everyone really loved working on this. The director had a real focus on making as many shots taken showing the drivers perspective rather than say replicating normal sports tv show coverage of a motor racing event which might have some in-car shots but a lot of drive-by and overhead filming. And then I finished up by watching some of Carrol Shelby's last few interviews retelling his life from kid, to living in Africa and the car developments. |

Elizabeth and I both thought 10/10. She is a petrol head anyway but I reckon even if you weren't that into cars...
I know a bit of the history but am no expert. I saw nothing in particular that was really wrong. Obviously details were added for drama. We go to the pictures most thursdays and this is the best movie we have seen in quite a while. We both want to see it again. Maybe if it comes to tivoli drive in... |

Saw it yesterday, good story behind the racing but I think they a little unfair to Leo Beebe
and his part in the 1,2,3 form finish as he always said it was on him, the good and the bad. There's a real human side to the story and Christian Bale does a great job as Ken Miles so won't wreck any of the experience for you... Absolutely love the sound of the GT, you get to hear it really well near the end of the move and the 7.0 liter sounds awesome even today. |

Our club and a bunch of others had a screening on Thursday night. Was a great movie, as others have said, need to hear it at a theatre as the noise was loud and real good.. highly recommended.

Watched it today. awesome. Been waiting months to get this movie. Worth it. Bale is perfect as Ken Miles.
People should research the Ford GT40 and watch some You-tube clips before watching the movie to really have a full understanding of what happened.

Just saw it at the cinema - you need to see this on the big screen, the sound is phenomenal.
This movie is the kind that creates car enthusiasts I reckon. I've only known Christian Bale as Batman, so I come out of it very impressed at his acting skills, his portrayal of Ken Miles is mind-blowing. |

He's a little underrated simply because he doesn't do enough movies, similar to Daniel Day Lewis. Watch a movie called The Fighter with Mark Wahlberg - one of the best supporting role's I've seen. Judging by what you blokes have said, especially in regards to the audio, I'll go watch it on the big screen just for that. |

Disappointed theyre still relying on the old "downchange and full throttle to pass" in a racing movie, but otherwise I liked it. Christian Bale was the highlight amongst the acting

Really looking (FORD) to seeing it !!!.. Hopefully soon .
Was sad to see that Ken Miles was killed soon after the 1966 Le Mans event. On Christian Bale and Matt Damon...Two of my favourite actors so I guess I'll like it anyway.. |

Jabba on sunrise just reviewed this movie. Opened by saying he's not a car movie fan.
Rated it 5 stars (out of 5), with the comment "A winner." Also made the comment that the movie will be involved in the Oscars.

I didn't get that same buzz, but I suppose if you know some of the real story you're always more critical. James Mangold is no mug though, he got the first Oscar nomination for a comic book movie with Logan for adapted screenplay.
