It’s been more white smoke with this one, the number of head/bore issues over time.
I’ve read that the original PCM/TCM config can be heavily edited for immo bypass and a bunch of other deletes relating to body control, is this actually correct? To “strip down” a PCM/TCM to run a standard (ute?) map with no ABS, no dash, immobiliser off etc, would be the ideal goal. |

I meant the GM electronics. The truck is mostly mechanical, save for the speedometer drive and tacho signal - there’s next to nothing that requires mashing up.

Sorry, the thread meandered.
The empty van went to an arborist as a dog shed or grow room or something. I needed it out of the way promptly. The truck is the workhorse, trying to keep it running is the quest. |

The VN - VS series V6 you just pull the engine and trans including all the engine harness and ECU right up to behind the glovebox, from memory there are only 3 or 4 wires to make it actually run, the gauges and stuff you have to nut out using the GM wiring diagram.

2.7 out of an 2000s hilux/hiace. Good torque and will do a billion km, they seem to like turbos too...
