Non standard exhaust on that one though.

300C is overrated, and as for looks, the rear end is ok but the front is like a retarded whale that's been clubbed about the head.

Charger SRT8 is so much tougher looking and would go harder everywhere. Gimme this one thanks.

I actually prefer the look of the 300C over that SRT..

I like the front of the 300C.. reckon it looks awesome.. and that 'roof chopped' look of it is great too.

If I wanted a pure performance car, the SRT is definitely more of that.. but as an all round package I reckon the 300C does a good job of tempting my wallet sometime soon

Me too...

I registered with their website to get more info last year but then when the expected price for the V8 was the wrong side of $70k.

The local dealer was not impressed when he rang last week to tell me he would have one to take for a test drive soon, and I said
"thanks but no thanks, I just bought an FPV"

Guys I think we are forgetting that the BF 3v V8's will get the 6 speed standard, I can tell you from experience that the bum-o-meter feel is very very good. They sound alot better than the BA version aswell. I have no idea what times they do though.

there is no way that a 250kw 1800kg sedan is going a 13.5 1/4 mile unless its got 4.11's....lol...surely something is a miss there.

Its an American car... they tend to do things Aussie cars can't. For example, 243kW 1650kg coupe (2000 Camaro SS) doing 13 flat in the 1/4. 291kW 1665kg coupe doind 12.4's (03 Cobra). 284kW 2300kg+ truck (SVT Lightning) doing 13.7's???

Throw that Camaro on a dyno and you'll push 240rwkW. Throw the Cobra on a dyno, easy 280rwkW. And Lightning... easy 260rwkW.

Gotta love BS power readings :

American cars are always run on sticky dragstrips and use the timing setups from the strip they are run on. Thats why no one is Oz can get close to matching their times. When the Mustang Cobra was tested by Motor they couldn't even get it close to the Americans figures. They aren't real world figures.

Unless the new Fairlane G8 magically manages to accelerate like a GT or XR8, it won't beat the 300C. Methinks they've followed the typical American manufacturer trend as of late to post totally bullpoo power figures.

Yep, our 2003 Cobra makes 390hp... but its not our fault that it puts down 380rwhp when you dyno it :yeees:
lol I stand corrected, to get a 13.9 i think the 5.7l has alot more power then 250kws to lug around 1800 odd kgs, alot more

Is it just me or is cryslers V8 engines line up very simpular to GMs, both have OHV 5.7l and 6l variants, (which remind me of old school muscle type of engines) they even have the same inlet manifold lol.

Ford US seem to be lacking in the V8 engine department, all they have is a supercharged 4.6 and supercharged 5.4. common ford bring back the 5.8 and 7.0l engines!

Well we have the SRT6 Crossfire already, so it would make sense. Now, where's that SRT8 Charger!

I don't know if I can bring myself to look at an HSV when it's time to update, but I'll definitely be looking at what Chrysler has to offer.

If I was buying a new car I would have a 300c over a fairlane or LTD. Im suprised you dont like the front MrSparkle considering you own a fairlane. I like big grilles.

The best thing i like about it is its high doors and short roof, brings back a real 70s look.

Its Funny, my mate is a new car salesman for Chrysler jeep, when the new Grand cherokee came out with the 5.7L, and i think it has less power and weighs more than the 300C, we out accelerated a VTSS commodore by a car legnth in a 4wd. These motors are insane, and they just pull strong all the way through the rev range. I can't wait until we take the 300C out, because it is just a sensational car to look at.

For some reason, i just want to think of the 300c as a fairmont ghia/calais competitor. The prices if you look at them are lineball with the prices of the fairmont ghia and the calais. The length is like 5.0m flat the only difference is the wheelbase which was due to the design of the car, which made them, push the wheels out to all four corners. I thought it would be better against the fairmont ghia's and calais's as they fit the bill of a luxury sports sedan better then possibly a fairlane G8.

On the SRT front it will be interesting to see how the 300c SRT8 will be treated by HSV and FPV. It will probably be competitively priced judging by the 300c prices.
The 300c SRT8 will go up against the GT-P and the Clubbie R8.SRT are not afraid of pushing the envelope and this is what will give FPV and HSV the incentive to up their game.

Also in the cars guide, the charger will not be coming to Australia as they will not convert them to right hand drive. The reason is that there is not enough volume to warrant such a conversion. So for now its only the 300c.

Who wouldn't mind seeing chrysler enter the 300c into V8's. I just think it would be a good idea.

I don't know how you figure? People don't use those V-Box or Correvit things to measure their own times, they go to the strip. Doesn't that make the drag strip relate to Joe Six-Pack better then using some fancy expensive piece of equipment to measure your times?

Then there's the ultra massive power advantages they have compared to our cars. People with 390hp Cobra's put down 380rwhp regularly... stock. That doesn't sound like a 390hp engine to me....

It's just very poorly executed. The headlight shape and position is woeful, really reminds me of a clubbed retarded whale. The grille isn't offensive though! Side profile and rear view are the best angles and it does look good from them. Anywhere but front on!

They are importing only the 5.7. That's the point of my post. We don't get the 300C SRT8.

Shoot me if I'm wrong, but I thought the previous posts were referring to the Charger.

[Edit] OK, having re-read the above posts, I see that the 300C SRT8 is now, allegedly, coming here.

My brain hurts. I'm going to bed.

It's going to be interesting with finally a competitor to the Ford and Holden rear wheel drive cars. Whose up for a comparision between the 290kw GT-P, 317kw SRT-8 and the HSV VZ2/VE clubbie R8. :

According to Drive and Goauto we will be getting the 300c SRT8 next year.

Steffo, one think you have to remember that US dyno numbers are not the same as here. Thier dynos are a different type and read about 10-15% greater than the type we have here.

That depends on the dyno software (and/or operator) and not the dynamometer itself. Dyno Dynamics have that shootout mode correctional software which adjusts the power output to a predefined percentage (what is assumed by the manufacutrer to be correct). That just removes accuracy from an already extremley in-accurate device, it should ideally not change the output in any way, shape or form.

Anyway, there's no disputing, the Cobra does not have the 390hp they claim. 390hp and 3665lbs does not a mid to low 12 sec car make.
