Yes will probably be there as a spectator only this year. Have been there as an entrant or a buddy for the last 4 years. As this could be a last minute go for the weekend thing anyone got any tips on accomodation?

I've been giong with a friend as a trader for about 15 years. In the last few events they cleaned up a lot of real drunken dickheads that only came with other dickheads for trouble & have turned it into a better event. I'am sure you will enjoy it.

In the wilder days you would see some 15-20 year olds come up with others get drunk, sever sunburn & some got bashed see them Sunday walking around with black eyes or broken bones.Squirt cars with brake fluid out of water guns, Throw buckets of water at cars that did'nt do burnouts throw rocks & potatos at the Sat night show girls.

I'm working again in scrutineering. Heading up on Tuesday morning, ready to begin processing local entrants Tuesday night. Look for the long blonde hair and say hi if you make your way through the scrutineering shed (oh and i'm a girl lol)

What do you look like/drive? I will most likely be found on the entrant registration desk and DeathXR from this forum will be at one of the scrutineering bays. He has long hair too!

Im going as a spectator as i dont see the point of spending my money on a nice ride just to see a *%#!**%#!**%#!**%#!*head ruin it for me and as for going to the whole four days not this time sick of seeing the same cars but with differant paint interior etc.
should be crusing in a 304 powered EH or a 9 sec methonol sucking LJ torana.

I live across the road from NATEX in a 2 story town house, so if you see a guy on his balcony with beer in hand waving like mad that will be me.

I will hang a Ford flag over the balcony
I'll keep an eye out for the Ford nuts.

Regards
Gary

I'll most likely be taking my BA XR6T through, and definately my XC on Tues night. Ive got my XB panelvan entered as well.

The BA is Merc Silver with 19's and squeaky AP brakes (lol), and the XC is Orange/Red with gold 18in Simmons and a crook alternator bearing..... well thats what i tell the feds anyhow! :

Ill be driving past your house every day Gary, its much easier to take Antill st to bypass the traffic on Northbourne, and come back down the Federal from the servo, the XC doesn't like stop/start peakhour traffic much....

In my opinion it's changed a lot since those days. There's no excuse for people throwing bottles, but once you get 1500+ cars in one place things will always happen. We even had a Cobra get damaged at our local car show which is the most sedate show ever. No alcohol involved, just some moron who thought it would be funny to damage a car.

I think Summernats is a great show for the variety of stuff to do. It's a nice contrast to events like the GT Nats.

Maybe I am getting old ( no maybe !! ) but hundreds of drunk and thousands of sober bogans carrying on like idiots just isn't my idea of fun. I certainly wouldn't take my wife there.
In amongst it will be the silent majority just there to have a good time .. but they aren't the ones you have to deal with.

Yup that's a fair call. Summernats certainly isn't for everyone Personally I usually just ignore the bogans and let them amuse themselves.

I guess my point is that there's still a good time to be had there apart from yelling stupid crap at girls. Plenty of cool car fans who are just there to enjoy their cars and catch up with friends they only see once a year.

Sorry to hear that a moron has put you of. In 92 they camped & brought their owm grog plus they still did the Northbourne cruise. I think it would have been over the boxing day NewYears day break.

It is hard to stop a idiot backed by many more god help Australias intelligents with some of these banana brains. The last couple that we have been to seems to be more organised in sercruity in throwing these types out of natex.
In all the years I've been going ,never really had any issues that would put me of going.

Yes nothing like a 1000 drunk or sober bogans yelling "show us ya tits" at your wife or girlfriend...
In some ways its more for their safety than ours, im not a very tollerent person when it comes to suffering fools...
If i can't take my wife to a car show than its not for me.
The bogans and (ricers) are welcome to it all to themselves..

Summernats is great but the bogan d**heads ruin it for the majority who just want to have some fun.

I've been going since 1999 (Also went in 1990) and I love it, the sound of blown big blocks, buzzing rotors and the smelll of burning rubber Mmmm. :

The best day is Friday I reckon and the Saturday festivites are always awesome.

Im not sure what place alcohol has at a car show full stop. Keep the drinking till after the show and away from the event.
