I am lucky I did. Blew 2 tyres on New Years Eve. I got heaps of rims and tyres sitting at home.

Yes but Its a 15 inch rim compared to my 17's I drive on. But its only 4.4% different in rolling diameter. I had to use it once, and the amount of traction difference between that and my 17 (215 Vs. 235) is unbelievable. I'd put my foot dowm and it would light up on that side.

Anyone who doesnt carry a spare without good reason is just stupid (No offence) Only takes 10 minutes to change the tyre, Compared to either a really long walk or a long wait for help...

the times i've needed a spare, its been no good to me.
both times i've had tire issues i've damaged 2 tyres, so wasnt exactly useful to have a spare.
when i get my 2nd LPG tank installed, i don't plan on having a spare, but who knows.

You can't get a sticker in WA for having a bald spare... Reasoning is that you don't have to carry one so if it's bald what does it matter?! Different story if you actually use it tho! Advice was straight from the pits a few months back.

haha ...

boot install takes up room for the spare, so bass has control over spare anyday.

i havn't needed to carry one. i have 3 stocko's at home, all need new tyres but thats not the point.

only needed it once .. and that was driving from melbourne to SA.. the bastard had a HUGE gash and was ripped open :S ? from what i have no idea.
The only spare we had was a buckled rim .. or a bald tyre.
only needed to get to the next down and fot a brand spankin new pirelli P-Zero for $40 bucks.

i was happy about that.

i can fit a spare with my audio stuff and have room for luggage so why wouldnt i carry one? not worth being stuck somewhere for a couple of hours (worst case scenario) i just got a stockie with a 185 i think, no need for anything bigger.

The results are much like I thought. The only reason I asked was to see how many people have been stung without one (or desperately in need of one). I am planning a boot install and always had the plan to incorporate the spare etc. I always thought a spare was needed.

Yeah I have one. I'm looking around for a 17" BA XR rim to replace the steelie as my spare (and cause I have one slightly damaged rim).

I had one in the XD as well, and one day in 40 degree heat on the way home one of my tyres shredded itself. (Dad knew it was going to happen, when I complained about the steering shaking, and he examined the tyres, but didn't bother to tell me)

Luckily I got into the servo on the way home and changed it. Love the way no one bothered to ask if I needed help until after i was covered in grease and brake dust.

Ive got one and still have my subs in the back. Mind you its not anything fancy. Just a 2X12 box that can be yanked out in 10 seconds. But thats not the point. I wouldnt even dream of driving without my spare.

With the roads here in WA, and especially the ones around my area, and add in the gravel roads, you would have to be a complete idiot to chance it.

If you buy aftermarket rims dont be a stinge. Get the 5th one so you have a good spare or a stockie you can keep in the boot. I cant believe people buy new rims and then have no spare!

I alway have one, i travel to many kays at all different times of the day not to have one. It's fine not to have one in the city & only travel in bussiness hours.

I do, and have needed it in the past. Travelling in remote areas I have carried 2. On my "toy car" the spare no longer fits in it's space since I got slightly wider tyres (and also doesn't fit in the boot due to the fuel tank) but I still got the 5th tyre which I carry in the back seat if I don't want the fun to stop if I get a flat, rather than having a grossly mis-matched spare.

2 of my cars have a spare, one doesn't. The one that doesn't is the XB. My XB's haven't had one ever since I owned them. I removed them the day I bought them home.

I've taken mine out from time to time but more often left it in. We were playing tennis once and a car pulled up next to the court to change a tyre. Turns out that the poor guy had suffered TWO flat tyres at the same moment. I wonder what the odds of that are. He had to call his family to come out with another tyre, and then their tyre was flat so they went to the servo to pump it up before putting it back on. But when he got the other tyre on and lowered the car back down, the first spare tyre from his boot had lost air and so he just drove home with a semi-flat spare. I've kept mine in ever since.

Yep BUT I am on the look out for a space saver 17" they were an option on the Tickfords with LPG I seen one on ebay a while ago and it went for $300+ with about 40 bids on it and that is too dear for a S S wheel
The full size 17" sits too high in the boot
BTW I need the 17" to clear the brakes

I heard that RX-7 space savers have a falcon stud pattern... Could be useful for those who want to reduce weight etc.

Yep, got spares, jacks & wheelbraces (or socket & breaker bar) in all my cars.
Nothing worse than getting stuck with a flat tyre.

Should be compulsory, and driver should know how to, & be able to change it if needed.
You can't always get RACQ or help from someone!
