So the XR6T probably has the best chance of owning a Skyline...
Has anyone does a head-head test with a XR6T and a XR8? I'm curious just how much quicker off the mark they are. I'm thinking they would be pretty close to eachother (stock of course)? I couldnt find any specific articles on the net... the ones I do have conflicting theories. I like both cars... they both have their appeal.

the only info i have on those two (xr6-t and xr8) is in MOTOR mag. and im pretty sure that every test they did the turbo nailed the 8. my dad has the mags so i'll find out tomorrow when i visit him. (he just loves to prove his turbos power lol)
They've done many road tests with these cars and there is heaps of 60ft and 1/4 mile times for both

In my experience, driving both back to back, the XR8 should be a pooftenth quicker to 100, but then the xr6t will beat it down the 1/4 (for about the third time!) There is really stuff all difference etween them, both are good cars, do you want a V8 or a 6, thats the real question.

Well my mate has a moded turbo Nissan Skyline GTS-T and ran a 14.3 @ 96mph and my stock XR6T with slipping clutch ran 14.021 @ 98.71mph.
A GTR would be a different story

I will back up the E-Series XR8 guys in saying that a stock XR8 will hound a stock GTS-T. Seen it at WSID.

C'mon Walkinshaw and MightyEFGhia.
You know Jess (fords_rock), well her bf has an R32 GTS-T with supposedly 200rwkw (so he was told) He was mightily annoyed when I beat him one night. Got ahead and he coudn't reel me in. Althouhg I'm not stock, I'm far heavier and a few KW short, but I did it. I don't have a video sorry, and he'll never admit to it. As for skylines, the R32's are potential weapons and are the best looking of the bunch too. |

I'm currently considering purchasing a 1998 R34 GT-T (tiptronic auto though), and have been sending/recieving a few emails of enquiry. All the times I've heard for an R34 is 6s 0-100km/h and 14.2/14.3 for 400m stock.
The times I've heard for the XR6T is 6s 0-100km/h and for the XR8 6.2s 0-100 km/h. I know in reality it would be a different matter. There is alot of people who say a Skyline is no good without the turbo, but would quickly jump to defend the XR6 N/A. |

The problem is people are saying 'Skyline' as some sort of generic term and comparing to a XR6T or EFs or something (EF beating a N/A I can see that, a T? Hell no, unless something is horribly wrong or umm they weren't trying). There are significant differences between the R32, R33 and R34 in both the GTS, GTS-T (GT-T in R34) and GT-R. The GT-Rs ranked in 1/4 times are R34/R32/R33.
In terms of GT-Rs they all have the RB26DETT (2.6 litre straight 6 twin turbo with 'slip-and-save' awd) in one form or another (N1, Neo etc). GTS-T/GT-T there is a lot more difference, R32 has the RB20DET (2l single turbo lsd rwd) the R33 has the RB25DET and the R34 has the RB25DET Neo this as well as obviously each model has a differences in the turbo etc. People need to realise that the ones 'racing' are more likely to be heroes with their GT-R body kitted GTS. Or they have 'fully sik uleh' massive chinese intercoolers and some korean knock off fart pipe with the stock turbo and no tuning but 19" rims with the cheapest possible tyres. Seriously though who buys a turbo Skyline and DOESN'T modify it? Hell you can go from 5psi to 7psi grounding 1 wire. Same goes for XR6Ts except I'm not sure how many such mods are on them

R33 GTST Vs EA WAGON with complete refreshened engine/BITS= EA WINNAR
R32 T Vs EA cfi 3 speed auto gli, skyline pips it but runs outta legs with speed limiter and gli WINS again so it comes down to the car in general i'd find it hard to find a GTR get beaten on any day unless its a crap driver or a run down IMPORT POS.... imho i'd say xr6t would def be the best of the lot though ;) |

Thats about as belivable as me saying that i once had a 1/4 drag with a R34 GTR-Vspec and i beat him in my 5ltr LTD... and i stalled the engine off the lights then restarted and still beat him by a car length. Ive driven even a lightly modified R33 gts-t and it was off the speedo (180kp/h) before my car could have even got to 100. Having said that i havent driven extensively a XRt, or a XR8. I know they're both quick... Would it be so hard to get a stock XRt, XR8 and a gts-t on the 1/4?

Considering the top speed of the EA 5 speed manual was ~210 and a good time for the EA sedan with 5 speed from factory when brand spanking was around what? 14.8? Are you sure you weren't 'racing' parked cars?
I once beat a Merc SLR down the 1/4 on my push bike... true story.

Reading the Skyline Forums here & in the US suggests that R32 & R33 both do a quarter in around 14.5 - 15 seconds at around 95-100mph.

Oh yeah Skyline R33s at least have 180kmh speed limiters stock. Not that its hard to disable them.

A nice Skyline GTST with dump pipe/ sports exhaust will run 14.00 With there rather small turbo they start slowing down around 200 kph... The 300ZX's are lard ***** btw....The v6 engine is not in same league as the RB engine...So whats wrong with a steroid fed 180?? They are a cut down version with 4 cylinders.....That could be said about alot of other cars, including Falcons....

Bah, 300zx targa tops are nice but there is so much more support for skylines, 200's etc in terms of aftermarket products and support. 300zx's massively overcramped engine bays do them no favours :nutsycuck
MITCHAY: what possesed you to get an AUTO r34? a GTP or XR6T i could understand because there just adapted family cars but the r34 comes from a proper sports car heritage, you wont get the proper feel of the car unless you get manual dammit :jab: |

the ford wins every time even if its a Skyline GTR-RT-GSGT-type R with a turbo the size of lopeze's ***, and an RB40.2375 and 16 neons on strobe, covered in stickers which say DRIFT!!!!,
simply because a falcon is a mans car driven by patriots of Australia. a ricers biggest weight reduction is the scrawny *** driver. i better stop because it seems whenever i go on about ricers i get admin warnings and holidays
