Well that's pizza-poor. 100 'lanes. Where have all the masters of style gone?? I must say whilst not in the market for a new one I have been looking for a '99 - '01 Fairlane second-hand and I haven't seen one on LPG. I sure won't buy one without it.

No f$#king way! Only 5198 vehicles sold! I'd say half of the Falcons were LPG equipped.

If Holden sell more than 3,500 Commonbores I'll freak.

I suspect Mitsubishi sold less than 1,000 380s.

Those Terry figures seem like a concern to me (100% opinion), the diesel Terry might be really growing in importance.

those figures don't suprise me at all. a lot of people i know and that i have talked to have no interest in australian cars and are only interested in ford because of the focus. they have gone to toyota and other such makes because of the quality.

I'm not hoping for anything. I said that the official numbers were due today and I am going to post my monthly summary this evening. The numbers supplied by RATT won't change. What interests me is how the dark side performed.

No. I always ask for them as Ford or FPV never release them. Unfortunately I didn't get the vFacts data today.

From Drive.com.au:

'Toyota remained the best-selling brand in April with 14,712 vehicles ahead of Holden on 10,417 and Ford on 8,372.

On a year-to-date basis Toyota also was ahead with 63,917 compared to 48,780 for Holden.

But Holden still had the top selling car, its Commodore finding 3,796 new owners, ahead of the Toyota Corolla on 2,898 and the Ford Falcon on 2,563.

Other leading sellers were the Mazda 3 (2,555), the Toyota Yaris (2,092), the Toyota Camry (1,996), the Toyota Hi-Lux 4x4 (1,574), the Hyundai Getz (1,564), the Ford Territory (1,525) and the Holden Astra (1,289).'

Looks like public/corporate buyer fear is winning out easily, small cars generally dominating for day to day use.

Its clear Ford need to advertise the excellent fuel consumption achievable with the Falcon. But of course (once again) they wont, cause they're nongs.

Couldn't sell scuba gear to a drowning man, Ford.

WTF? How are Holden managing to hoodwink the public into buying such a POS as compared to the BF and the 380? Marketing only goes so far. Me thinks someone at Holden is lining the pockets of the government and private fleet buyers. But thats just me.

IMO - If petrol prices keep going the way they are, it will be ahead of Falcon at least one of the months before the end of the year (so long as Mazda don't have any supply issues). How long till the Focus outsells the Falcon for the first time?

However a good result for the 380 - staying about the 1000 units mark in a down month.

Well you wont be thrilled to see the top 11 for the month then:

Commodore: 3796
Toyota Corolla 2898
Falcon: 2563
Mazda 3 2555
Toyota Yaris 2092
Toyota Camry 1996
Toyota Hi-Lux 4x4 1574
Hyundai Getz 1564
Ford Territory 1525
Holden Astra 1289
Ford Focus 1288

Corolla beats Falcon to number 2 and Mazda 3 misses out on the third spot by 8 cars.

laughable at best for the falcon but nothing can really be done as petrol prices are influencing buyers. maybe ford should concentrate on marketing their smaller cars a lot better. if petrol keeps going the way it is ford better re think their product line up.

This has got to be good.
Even though Viva is obviously effecting Astra, it's still good to see Focus up near the top ten.

Its all because holden are doing extremely crazy deals to move the last of the VZ.. I think people are certainly cashing in on the bonus's available just like they did ealier in the year with Fords $2,000 and $3,000 cash back on 05 plates.

Ford are responding in terms of pricing though. In another thread I started, my local Ford dealer quoted $37,800 for an SR driveaway. Nationally they are now down to $32,888 driveaway, undercutting the Commodore SVZ buy just over a $100 bucks.

The month of May will be interesting......

Is that Drive away or Recomended Retail price..

As the SVZ at 32900 is plus on roads according to holdens advertising..

One of the guys on AMC has been quoted $37k +ORC for an 05 plate 380GT (top of the line 380). Apparently they can't find one in the colour he wants so they will give him a 06 plate for the same price.

I take it the big four are about to get into a messy pricing war.
