My ED XR8 Manual also had one - as I found out much to my disappointment on the main straight at Phillip Island!

Just don't try to stop in a hurry on stock brakes that could be disasterous What is the speed limiter on the Sprint? I was led to beleive that XR's didn't have them at all since they had alloy tailshafts that were up to the task. Quote:

Trust me ... at 320km/h ... the world goes past you very bloody quickly ... and the dotted line in the middle of the road .... well ... they kinda become one line. I found this out one night as a passenger ... and no it wasn't in a Ford either. So if the speed limiter acts like traction control .... it wouldn't be installed in the EGAS models due to backfire then .... so in other words ... all EGAS model have no speed limiter .... LOL Trust me ... a speed limiter is needed .... just check out Datamine's thread in FordMods ... he removed the speed limiter ... and at 192km/h (I think it was) his tailshaft let go on the dyno ... lucky for him it only put a dent in the floorpan If people are wondering which car this was ... it was the Gold EL at the Autotech dyno day the other week.
