If it were an FPV kitted Territory, it would just need a new front and rear bar, maybe bonnet, rims, new dash gauges, some sportier seats... and drop in the F6 engine. R&D is kept low, yet they have released a much sportier tuned version of an already favourite, award winning car....

Tempest to me seems like a more subdued name than Typhoon & Tornado so I would probably lean to the Fairlane family but I have no idea why FPV would bother making a high performance limo given their strong sales to Fleet/Govt. I spose that leads me to think an FPV Territory Ghia.

This will probably be a rebadged Fiesta ST (from Europe). This car has a 2L engine (110kw@6000rpm, 190Nm@4500rpm) with sports tuned engine, suspenstion, steering and brakes... LINK TO FIESTA ST SITE

I think it will slot in the same sort of area the GT-P does in relation to the GT. I'd love it to be a terri, but I've also always thought why there wasn't a "plus" model of the Typhoon to go with the GT-P. Just my obsessive compulsive side coming through though I guess, but it would be nice, because then things would be neat
Then again, on a rethink and re-read, it would seem more likely to be a terri. But I still want my Typhoon-P (but with a much less tacky name) :P |

It'll be a Territory based F6, doubt it would or should be anything else.

In the latest motor mag is says that FPV made a one-off ute for the vic police based on the tornado.
Called smokey 3 it features 'DRIFT6 vented bonnet, big bore stainless steel exhaust, specially tunes suspensionlow ratio dif and unique engine calibration that pushes the boost out to a max 13psi. That translates to a max power of 320kw and claimed low 12sec quater' Maybe they are using this car as a bit of 'smokey' r&d?? |

Hard to say, F6 tempest leans toward the sedan names in the sense that the terri turbo is not called an xr6 territory.
I think it'll probably be a hotted up fairlane, especially as ford will attempt one last ditch effort to make a business case for the continuation of the lwb. Furthermore, with a possible export deal for the home grown lwb potentially being sent off to the USA ford aus will try and woo the execs and public into trying to get the australian car. Chances are we will end up continuing to make the lwb in aus form but with american clothes. A 6 cylinder with more power and torque than the cadillac v8 would really put a kick up the generals ***.

A sequential twin turbo version of the F6 Typhoon with adjustable race-type suspension and less weight is what they need....

So it's three-for-three for Ford Australia "borrowing" nameplates from GM for any locally-assembed model not starting with "F" (eg. Falcon, Futura, Fairmont, Fairlane .. oh LTD .. damn!) |

I really like the name...very sinister and aggressive....but I won't get to excited, after all the Force name sounded good too but didn't have the extra bite to back it up (the 8 version anyway)...atleast this time around they didn't screw up the badge nice 'n simple!

Hmm Im sure FPV have a few tricks up their sleave to try and hold back the e series, how much depth they have is another question.
I think the name is awesome though; sounds tough!

It will not be a coupe - Ford will not splash the cash.
It will not be a Fairlane as Ford have canned LWB - unless they just want to get rid of LWB shells. My money is on the FPV Territory.

Don't like the name - tempest sounds to similar to temptress.
My guess is a hot fairmont/fairlane
