The Lodge already has them. Actually I'm pretty certain they are there but it is usually pretty dark when I drive past.

I'm not sure why anyone feels any sympathy for the people that hit these things...

LOOK AGAIN at the video...
on either side there is TWO HUGE

"DO NOT ENTER SIGNS"

The frist driver is obviously trying to sneak through

the second driver Speeds up to get through

as for the third one... Im not sure why the first van got through

but the driver of the second van... must still have a headache :

as the title of the video says

Road blocks aren't for dumb drivers

Bollards, boomgates - same sort of thing, some people think, "the boom gate hasn't gone down yet, so I'll sneak through too rather than wait." Then bang, it comes down on the car as they go through. There was signs and road markings to tell them not to do it, and these people knew about them as they clearly gunned it to beat the bollards.

That's the pedestrian hazard. Also when used in pedestrian areas they are a considerable trip hazzard when they silently rise up. Some of my sites now have warning sounders and have to educate their staff, others put a boom gate directly above the bollards to save pedestrians from walking onto them. If someone is standing on them, they don't rise.
