I cant believe so many people drive barefoot too, I just see it as being really unsafe for some reason. I just cant stand driving without somethin bein on my feet.

They're basketball shoes from something like the 1920's. Skate shoes are pretty damn comfortable. The main problem I have with them is that they're all puffy when they're brand new.

Barefoot is not illegal here in Queensland either. I've ahd numerous people including driving instructors and employees of the DOT tell me it's fine. i got my license barefoot in 2003.

I thought it was compusory to drive bare-foot in Queensland :hihi:

a mate that moved from Vic to Qld now basically doesn't own a pair of shoes, he rides his dirt bike bare foot, rocks into the pub bare foot : it's just the effect of the heat on the brain i 'spose, makes for a more laid back lifestyle it:

always drive in dress shoes, sneakers of steel caps, none of which make any difference to the "feel" of the pedals.

As far as skate shoes, the cons one-star style is the old school skate shoe from when i was a teenager, not a fan of the super big chunky shoe, not enough bend in the toe or feeling through the sole.

I like driving barefoot. Thongs are bad as BlueAU ssuggests, can get a bit messy in the footwell, especially when driving a manual.

Usually my runners. I can't drive with thongs or sandals on they're annoying. Have been known to drive barefoot if I'm in a hurry or the shoes that I'm wearing are inappropriate (high heels).

Usually my runners. Although uncomfortably because they're a bit heavy for my jumpy pedal. Had a similar conversation to this with a guy at Heathcote on Sat night and I was shocked when he said he drove barefoot - now that I've read these replies I'm actually quite surprised at how many people drive without shoes. I didn't think it was that popular lol.

I may have to try it (especially on long trips) My feet + runners driving to Bendigo = sore feet!!

Has anyone tried racing boots, a friend of mine lent me his shoes he uses for rallying, they were awsome & if you get trapped in your car when it catches on fire one day you feet will be the last thing to burn lol.

Same here if i wear thongs. Except it happens with the clutch. Stupid fiesta baby size footwell....

Usually i drive barefoot to uni, or in whatever shoes im wearing which suit the situation ie. Colorado Black shoes for work Addidas shoes for out casual, things for warm days etc etc etc

For me when i'm out learning, i wear either my converse all stars (chuck taylors) or i wear my skate shoes the chunky type ones (i do not skate either lol, i ride bmx though). ive never had problems with either of them just my lead foot, and the touchy accelerator.

Black Globe Skate shoes (are my school shoes, drive home from school a couple days a week), otherwise New Balance Cross Trainers. Haven't really driven barefoot before, one or twice putting the car out on the street.

Barefoot in the manual. No matter the footware, when your trying to heel and toe with size 12 shoes on, things just get tangled. That and I can't get my feet in beside the clutch to the footrest. In an auto its sneaker town. I can brake in an auto better with shoes for some reason, no idea why.

And it's LEGAL to drive barefoot in QLD. Well, it was in 2002 when I went for my license. As it for being dangerous, I've never had an issue. I've driven with sweaty feet and never slipped, never cut myself. Mind you the ED has nice rubber gripping on the pedals. Driving manuals in thongs IMO is dangerous. They have a tendency to slip off, get in spaces that could affect pedal travel etc.
