ive only ever locked the keys in the car once! lol my bf's EA Ghia, which has central locking btw! lol, while we were on holidays in QLD we had stopped to get some oil from AutoRice(tm) and i was driving and we got out, and on his car you can just push the lock down and close the door and its locked, well silly me left the key in the ignition! Didnt realise til we got back to the car and wanted keys to get it! oh ooooh! Lucky Ben had a spare in his wallet!

I don't know about this instance and the locking of both sets in, but ANY Ford tibbe key will lock the car... For shits and giggles I lock drivers keys in there cars all the time.. And yes I have a permanent coat hanger bent to shape and can get in in less than 30 seconds

It is easy because the people doing it know where to slide the hook, what to feel for and when to pull up.

If you pulled the door trim off, and inspected the internal workings of doors you will soon be just as good.

I do think there is an aftermarket item for falcon and the competition that is a bit of pressed sheet metal that covers the internals of the locking mechanism and is just pop riveted into place.

A mate of mine had an old commodore (VH I think). He locked his keys in the car one day so we called the NRMA. While we were waiting another commodore the same pulled up. So we asked if we could borrow their keys. He tried them and Bingo the door was open. No wonder old cars are stolen so much.

At a guessover 2 minutes, but then if it is the same setup as an EL falcon less than 30secs, as i have seen my better half do it.

I had a mate with a vh and he could unlock his car and start it with as 5 cent piece. Lets just say that it could have been a cheap steal.....

I have heard that if you lock your keys in your car and your spare is at home then if you can get a person at home to press the unlock button next to a mobile phone anf you put your mobile next the the car the it will unlock it.

I have never tired it so i can vouch that it will work.

I have used a pro tool from a locksmith mate when doing a repo a couple of times , it basically goes insert > squeeze >click/turn your in >sitting insert >squeeze>turn>start and drive , only thing to slow it down is a solid properly fitted wheel lock that blocks access to the columb top , they take maybe 20 seconds if your slow to cut the wheel and drag the lock off (unless it's stainless and wraps the brake peddle) then it's another 20 seconds ...
and if the finance guys want the car a tow truck will skull drag it , and people don't even ask (sand or powdered glass under the tyres

VK commadore is the worst. Door would open with my house key and ignition would start with a screwdriver.

Why should ONLY BA/F Owners Be worried?

I have used the same technique to get into all sorts of vehicles for guests at the hotel I Work at, for staff as well.

Used to take me 5-10 seconds to get into my old XF and Navara as well.

And if i really wanted to get into your car i would, for the same reason you mentioned. the ol' fist through the window(TM) technique is one that is universal in vehicles everywhere.

i back what was said earlier (and i work in the security industry) "Locks are only there to keep the honest people out"

Take the time to cover up valuables in your cars and you wont be a target, i lock my ipod in the cupholder, if i have to leave the wallet in the car it goes under the seat, computers, laptops etc.. all go in the boot

Getting into a car is one thing, getting away with a car is another...

my suzuki swift had the RAA dude swearing and cursing for half an hour trying to get into it but that was cos of worn locks that kept locking them selves back down, great fun eventually i just told him to reach down and pop the rear hatch and i was in in 10seconds. :

I locked my keys in the EA about 18 months ago, and as i was waiting for the missus to bring the spare, coppers pulled up and asked me for I.D etc... they thought i was stealing it, lol.
When she couldnt find the spare i called RACV, the guy was new and he also locked his keys in the service ute, poor bugger....haha

I just locked my key in the boot today and it took the RAA guy in Broken Hill 3 minutes to get into the car so much for for BA security

I locked the key of a brand new rental VF commodore in the boot, took the bloke 30 seconds to get in with the inflation balloon and wire. Had the 'attempted theft' warning for a day afterward.

My xp would open up with any key, and you could start it with your thumbnail.

In Townsville i got so sick of the parkys breaking into my GQ patrol all the time for small change that i used to leave it exactly as above. It saved me having to clean the windows everyday
