shocking atm. not sure why i haven't changed my driving style. 12.5 L/100km for the BA XT. I think maybe I have a bad batch of fuel cause a couple of weeks back i was kicking goals at 11.9 - 12.0. If it keeps like this i might get it looked at.

At a guess, around 11-12L/100 clicks on both petrol and gas.

The units are Litres per hundred kilometres ( l/100km ) So all you need to do to calculate your consumption is divide the number of litres used by the number of hundred kilometres driven. So if you have a 65 litre tank and get 500km out of it, you divide 65 by 5 and get: 65/5=13l/100km Easy! And if you are going on a trip and want to work out how much fuel you'll use, you work out how far it is in 100km blocks - for example Cairns to Brisbane is about 1600km, so that is 16 lots of 100 - and then multiply that by the l/100km for your car - 13 for my ZC times 16 is 208 litres I can expect to use to drive to Brisbane. It's just basic algebra put to a good use - who would have thought paying attention in maths would pay off eh? :-) |

I drove from my Hometown of Bathurst to Surfers Paradise on a holiday in my EBII Fairmont and on some parts of the trip I was getting 10.2L Per 100Km. I covered nearly 700Km on one tank, I was cheerin.

Generally between 10.5 and 11.5 L/100km with about 75% freeway driving.
This equates to about 25-28 MPG.

Mine manages 10l/100 around town, and its only a 500cc...... "damn thirsty B!tches!" (Its a 500cc 4cyl 2stroke . least its the right colour.... blue!) Maybe I should buy a scooter.... if i did it'd probably consume double what anyone elses would!

How are most people getting good economy compared to mine?
I have an EF1 futura and get 18.7L/100km city driving and 13.9L/100km highway driving. How can I improve this (I don't constantly boot it!)?? |

Something is very wrong in my series 3 Au 6cyl, I'm struggling to get 300km out of my 68L tank working out to be 22.6l/100km. According to others I should be getting around 12L/100km. I drive under normal conditions.
Any suggestions on what the problem may be. Car idles smooth and runs terrific apart from the fuel problem, and I've checked for fuel leaks but have not found any. Thanks |

bout 20 / 100 BA XR6 NA.. cant really explain it except it only gets driven 4 kms a day...
Shouldnt be that high, i will be asking the dealer to check it out next service - only done 7700 kms I personally think it all comes down to how much highway driving you do... at a constant speed between 70 - 100 your bound to get better fuel consumption, stop start like me and your stuffed. Best car we have ever had on fuel was an AU II Fairmont - 157 Kw stock motor, it seem to get a constant 500 kms out of tank.... BA on the other hand your lucky to get 350 - 400 and we have had 2 of them now and a Territory, which is using about 19 / 100 also but is only 3000 kms old. At least 15l/100km in the city, no air.
With air on, around 17l/100km. My power tranny switch is on most of the time and I drive my EBII XR6 like I stole it. I am wondering what's the consumption on AUII/III XR8 autos? |

OK....
My BA XR8 Ute figures before it had the mods done are as follows: Giving it a hard time Zero to speed limit at every chance it used to get up to 26ltr/100kay. On a trip I think it came in at 12ltr/100 kay. Now with the mods including a diff ratio change from 323 to 377, Giving it a hard time the same at stated above it goes up tp 19ltr/kays On a trip it will usually come in at 11.8 to 12ltr/100 kay. Basicly the mods helped it heaps around town with short quick driving as the car is working more efficiant. On the longer trips it didnt change alot probably due to the change of diff ratio that bought the revs up a bit. With the standard diff I would expect a very low 11/100 or even a high 10/100 with the other mods. Cheers...........Kev

My EB V8 auto gets 500-550km around town/country driving, and 600+km on the freeway. It's due for a service though (plugs, oil, filters) so it might get a bit further on each tank soon (91RON).
I wonder if lowering the car 3" would improve economy much on freeway trips to melbourne? I currently average 8-9L/100km on the freeway, ?L/100km around town (probably 14-16) and 11.5-12.5L mixed driving. -Dave- |

16.5 litres per 100, I do try to drive it nicely to conserve fuel, but that all goes out the window when I hear the engine rev...........

On the highway I can get anywhere from 700-750k's upward on a tank (82L)
round town anywhere between 500 and 700 k's (depends how I drive it) (fairly accurate estimates) |

hey ZC thats a sweet ride you got there! ;)
dunno what i get... coz the odometer is stuffed, and its got 76000 miles on it.. but i use up about 25 bucks of lpg where my fairmont would go thru 50bucks of fuel. the 351 is built for torque but it gets nice low-rev power so it doesnt need much accel to get moving.. plus its got standard manifolds/exhaust aswell as a gas setup from a 302c installed 11 years ago! geez it needs work. my first eb fairmont manual got about 16l/100 auto and 14.5 manual. my latest one should get about the same coz its 16 auto. |
