You see that bit were it says to put your location in, in your profile? Thats were your supposed to say were you live, that way I would have known you were in NSW and wouldn't have bothered to post a comment relevant to Victorian laws.

Sorry mate don't feel sad for you at all, not very bright thing to do, but you know that now...just glad no one was hurt (if you had lost control that is) and that you have learnt (yes the hard way) your lesson....and hope you can get it out in a week...

Yeah, I'm not asking for anyone to feel sorry for me. As far as losing control I know the best drivers can, but I'm always very careful... On this road I could have spun it around twice and still had room - I like to always account for enough room for a bugger up and never really put myself in a tight place. I grew up on land and have been driving since I was 10, and throwing cars sideways since 14. There is always the unexpected - a pedestrian who could run across the road etc etc. I am not at all saying the stupid "Nah man, it'll be right, I'm too good" carp.

Peter Brook killed himself for christs sake - I hardly think I'm the be all and end all in driving, there are more people alot more skilled than me.

If they'd just close off an airstrip once a month and give us a wetskid pad I'd never resort to dropping the clutch in a public place. But they dont, and where else get my rush? GranTrismo? I think not... :/

Of course, from now on my car wont have any sideways action ever again, just because they'll take it off me for good next time. I do feel kinda robbed but, to being told that "Ok, now you'll never have fun in your car again"

Nearest dragstrip is Sydney for me, and that's a 4 hour trip!

I hope I get her back too, she'll be a very tidy car after this because I'll apperciate her a lot more than I ever did... Having her taken away by a pedofile is very disturbing :P

Having said all this the car does have a reputation for being sideways a large % of the time while it's wet in my town, and maybe this is why they were so hard on me.

I think I'll sell it in a couple of months and maybe buy a 4 banger with less fuel consumption - I hardly need power when I cant do anything with it anymore.

Bad luck buddy.

Definitely worth getting a lawyer to have a look at it considering the car is your parents.

ANyone saying "too bad its your fault, your problem" will be changing their tune once their kids get up to some mischief and start loosing their cars.

if only it was that easy. maybe once upon a time. all messed up nowadays with speed and hooning taking the fall for every infringement on the road.
yeah, if he wasn't fishtailing it up the road, he probably could have used that one. i know i did when i went a bit too quick around a corner causing the tyres to screech a couple of years ago.

cop pulled me over and asked why i was going so fast, i said i wasn't, he says my tyres were screeching. i said my wheel alignment is out. he checked my license and saw that i lived in the area and let me off.

thing is, i really wasn't going that fast, but fast enough to make the tyres screech.

More a case of your keyboard getting out of control (or should that be outta control). Enjoy the 7 days of contemplation.

As a general reminder - it doesn't matter what your personal view is of the laws as they apply in this country, we will not tolerate comments like the one above regarding those whose job it is to enforce them. There are correct ways to express an opinion and that comment isn't one of them.

Cheers

But people that run red lights, don't come to a halt at stop signs, don't indicate etc. are rarely done and get a few points and a fine... It's all political crap. I don't know how the young blokes keep their licence more than a few months these days.

The best thing I can suggest... Sign yourself up for the next AFF Skid Pan Day :

Get it all out of your system, without the threat of an impound.

Good to see you have already learnt from your mistake, and yeah... I don't doubt many others had been in the same situation and chosen to keep it quiet to avoid public judgement.

the can actually take your car, do you get money from the sale, I dont understand,
So some idiot has a say 50k car they can take it and he loses the lot. surely theres a loophole in the system, I know we go off many years ago in QLD cause under qld law an officer must be in full uniform to issude a ticket, including his hat, and this one didnt.

screw that.

I know its wrong but if i had been dumb enough in my youth to get that far, i would have run sooner than lose my car altogether.

Glad you are tackling it with a positive attitude and learning from it too - it could be worse, but in a few months you will be driving again (minus some hard earn cash)

if u want to be a tool, always go to an industrial site on a sunday night , least chance of hitting anything (big wide roads) and not much traffic (thats if we live in a perfect world and every1 is perfect and dont listen to my advice lol).

or go to a skid pan

Correct me if I was wrong on both counts, but you will need to wait 3 days before you reply.

There is not a fine line between stupidity and opinions, a lesson learnt.

I love when people get upset over others doing burnouts in publice places, personally if theres no one else around (within in hitting distance) you don't have any passengers throw the car side ways, nothing is more fun. But do it and indanger anyone other than yourself, then you need a slap!

**** luck dude, and way harsh if you ask me.
