A Supercomputer Analyzed Covid-19 — and an Interesting New Theory Has Emerged
https://elemental.medium.com/a-super...d-31cb8eba9d63

"Covid-19 is like a burglar who slips in your unlocked second-floor window and starts to ransack your house. Once inside, though, they don’t just take your stuff — they also throw open all your doors and windows so their accomplices can rush in and help pillage more efficiently."

Interestingly....mini prize goes to Goosey.

"Jacobson’s team also suggests vitamin D as a potentially useful Covid-19 drug. The vitamin is involved in the RAS system and could prove helpful by reducing levels of another compound, known as REN. Again, this could stop potentially deadly bradykinin storms from forming."

Read my mind! Hard to find sympathy. They didn't man handle her or anything. Its very easy to make the cops look like the bad guys. I doubt she was just supporting the cause, more like one of the organisers. They were given plenty of warning that organisers would be targeted. I get heaps of these events forwarded to me, but I don't see my mates getting arrested....yet?

I disagreed with the BLM protests, but it is a different reaction now because the situation is different. BLM happened when deaths were under 20. We are now just recovering from 600-700 cases a day, and approaching 600 deaths. Yeh ok, some people think these numbers are trivial, but still the circumstances are different.

She (and others of the same ilk) now have a very clear message that there are offences that they can be charged with so I'd call that a good result.

Hold up - 'illegal protest'? Last time I checked Australia is a democratic country that allows freedom of speech and
the right to freedom of assembly REGARDLESS of public support.

This isn't Russia, China or Hong Kong - just because something is suddenly 'law' it doesn't make it right or just.

You might not hold the pillars of western society that are freedom of speech and the right of assembly as valuable but a lot of this country does.

VERY convenient how they couldn't do anything about BLM protests in Melbourne but pregnant woman in Ballarat with opinion contrary to Victorian Government gets arrested in this way for organising a protest.

Or is it just because she's white Anglo Saxon and can't play the race card that it's convenient to crack down on her?

I knew this would happen the moment you give the government authoritarian powers they start using the police against their own citizens.

I also noted that 'Their ABC' conveniently skipped over this event in the news this morning.

So with the cdc reclassifying their death count, how long before other countries start doing similar?

Going to be hard to continue with the current narrative of pushing fear and shame if all of a sudden the death rate drops by 90%.

Apparently Comrade Dan hasn't seen the video of the girl in Ballarat. Absolute lie.

Wouldn't have expected anything less from #theirABC regarding the reporting of this matter. Not that it matters, no one watches legacy media, it's days are over.

Do you have a link for the CDC reclassifying the death count down 90%?

104 new cases for Australia and 6 deaths sees the CMR rise to 2.558% while active drop to 3,570. NSW recorded 17 cases, Queensland recorded 2 cases with the balance in Victoria.

5 new cases and 0 deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.252% and active cases drop to 129.

The UK had 1,510 new cases and as we know they are now not counting their mortalities by the WHO guidelines we are going to ignore those figures.

Just under 34k new cases in the USA yesterday and 1,138 deaths sees CMR rise to 3.022% and active cases drop to 41.0% with the raw numbers still rising. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences.

Other notable points:
Global cases pass the 26M mark with the last 1M taking 4 days again;
The USA completes 84M, Russia 37M, France 7M, & Portugal 2M tests;
Brazil passes 4M cases;
Asia records a new daily high of 108,636 new cases;
Europe records a new daily high of 35,078 new cases, the highest since May 5th;

Tunisia (233), Palestine (594), Czechia (656), Paraguay (800), Ukraine (2,495), Israel (2,926), Spain (8,581) and India (82,868) all recorded new daily highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

In a state of emergency Victoria's charter of human rights and responsibilities is 'suspended' - because we're only 'signatories' to the UN declaration, it needs to be ratified to have any actual effect.

So there's probably no legal leg for anyone to stand on as effectively under SOE you've got basically no rights

It gives State Governments way too much power and you know what happens when Governments have too much power.

I'm a bit of a fan of David Limbrick who is an MP who represents the SE suburbs of Melbourne - his speech on Tuesday about the extensions on SOE was fantastic:

https://www.facebook.com/15710323998...3473985283782/

Talks about the Government not trying to negotiate with them, how the Victorian government has become dependent on this draconian legislation and Victoria Police being Victoria Police

David is one of the few that can put his points across in a respectable manner. Unlike others that just scream and yell. But where I get confused is when the ones opposing the SOE say the sitting government isn't listening to "the people". Who is "the people"? Because right now, I'm pretty confident that the majority of Victoria supports the measures being taken. If they weren't, there would be wholesale breaches everywhere, the police can't stop everyone. The extension was voted by MPs who represent "their people", and the result is the result.

I was at the servo this afternoon filling up. We had a dust storm overnight and there were 9 cars lined up to get through the auto car wash. Cops rocked up, told the attendant the car wash shouldn't be open (apparently its part of the restrictions?), then went on their way. No angst, no dramas.

Why is that even against the rules? Who you gonna give COVID19 to sitting in your car in the auto car wash?

I imagine they decided to just tell everyone to GTFO after this made the news a few months ago:

Quote:
Coronavirus rules slammed after man was fined $1,652 for washing his car

A Victorian man has slammed rules designed to stem the spread of coronavirus after he was fined more than $1,600 for washing his car.

He said he was the only customer at the carwash in Hoppers Crossing on Thursday morning when police pulled in.

An officer asked why he wasn’t staying inside and issued him with a fine.

The $1,652 fine for individuals breaching coronavirus-related rules in Victoria is among the strictest in the country.

“I work in essential services,” the man said when asked to justify why he was washing his car.

Dunno man. I knew the manual ones were closed, but didn't expect the auto ones to be closed. I'm guessing they can't make exceptions for every single type of thing being restricted, so its a blanket cover.

There's a bit of opposition to accepting UN agreements from those on the right. Some of that opposition is due to the Agenda 21 conspiracy theory followed by Malcolm Roberts from One Nation and others.
https://www.facebook.com/malcolmrobe...20134894797050

They believe the UN is planning to undermine our sovereignty, take over the world and install a one world socialist govt. I think there's a Rothschild banking conspiracy in there too but it's a challenge keeping up with what goes on in Malcolm's head.

I don't particularly like the UN either - mostly because the times they should have stepped in they've done absolutely nothing.

See Rwandan genocide and breakup of Yugoslavia.

To explore your analogy, if the sand were contained mostly in large sacks, would a cyclone fence protect you?

Yes the virus itself is microscopic, and on its own it could pass through most masks. However it is most commonly and likely spread by droplets of bodily fluid, and a decent mask will trap most of those.
Furthermore, if you contact a contaminated surface, you are most likely to contract the virus by touching your face near your mouth or nose. Again, a mask offers some protection against that.

Still ****es me off how woefully unprepared we were, and how lax and slow to crack down.
Well after the problem was known, we still had dodgy-*** airlines flying in people from China via Hong Kong, morons going to Bali for holidays, and expats remaining overseas thinking it didn't effect them.

When I lived in Indonesia, we had a contingency plan, that when triggered allowed the mines to be closed and secured with 24 hours, families out of Indonesia within 48, and everyone out within 72 hours.
We had alternate routes planned in case Singapore stopped flights from Indonesia, and even a failsafe plan to fly planes directly into the minesites.

Hopefully we have learnt from this and will be better prepared when something really nasty comes along.

If we could somehow stop morons and ******** from driving, it would not only lower the roadtoll and the costs of damage, but we could also do away with many laws including speedlimits. Sadly we can't.

It's ridiculous that people have to be told not to spread the virus, but as I said, the world is full of stupid people.

Probably better not to call it a conspiracy theory (conspiracy theories should be fun).

It was a misinterpretation of a report.

The report said 6% (IIRC) died with no other comorbidity listed.
Where the comorbidity could be a chronic illness that one could live with for many years (Asthma for example), it is not reasonable to eliminate these as COVID deaths

It may be because to use an automated carwash, you have to press buttons to enter what sort of wash you want, and then press buttons to pay. This is community transmission - if the person before you was infected and happened to have had virus cells on the finger they used to press "OKAY" after they had just wiped their nose.

But they were staying to themselves, not interacting with the community, just getting the car clean... until the next person comes along and presses the "Okay, I've now got the virus on my finger, where shall I put it?" button.

Mistakes happen, anyone can misinterpret a report. But to persist with it long after the mistake has been pointed out indicates a degree of malicious intent to manipulate their followers.

Had my first mask experience yesterday, we were told to wear one in a office, which we had a couple of hours hard physical work to do, with the sweat plus constantly having to adjust/play around with it it was near useless, and was soaked by the end, picking i got more cr*p in my eyes nose and mouth than if not wearing it, so good luck wearing one in your 40 degree summer. Bonus was no one else in office had a mask on.

It's really not that crazy. One of my ex boss was a former AFP officer. He tells me most criminals believe what they do is right and fair. They know its against the law, but in their mind they don't actually think doing it is wrong.

Take the protest tomorrow for example, the organisers, the attendees believe what they are doing is right...even though it is against the "law". Whether you agree with the law is a different matter.

And in case anyone in Melb was thinking whether to attend the protest tomorrow...

Victoria's lockdown protesters told to stay away from Shrine of Remembrance
https://7news.com.au/news/health/sta...rine-c-1286358

“If any individuals or groups choose to express their political views, positions or ideological theories in the grounds of the shrine at any time, they are completely disrespecting the sanctity of this time-honoured space, those men and women of the Australian Defence Force who have lost their lives, and all Victorian veterans.”

Kinda makes me wonder whether the organisers really understand what they are supposedly protesting for. As above, I'm sure they believe what they are going to do is the "right thing".
