Stopped by a clients family dinner last night for a quick glass of wine. The kids were roughhousing in one of the bedrooms and we hear smashing glass. 3 of the boys aged 6-9 were wrestling, in a ball fell off the bed and smashed right through a glass window. Long sharp shards, as it was an older non tempered window. Not one scratch on any of them.
Just goes to show how quickly things can go pear shaped around the house.

Very lucky. I heard of a couple minding their grandson in Sydney- this was about twenty years ago - and while fooling about unsupervised he fell head first into a glass fronted cabinet. That was it; severed his neck arteries irretrievably.

Temp under 30 in Perth today. A few 40 plus days recently and high 30s.
More 40s on the way.
But better than floods, fires and storms knocking out power like you poor buggers over east.

Another great impromptu car show in town this morning.
Lots of real MG's, couple of Jags and Jailbars, an acid yellow FJ and my personal favourite a 57 Pontiac Cheiftan.

A hot day but it brought out the chrome.

My son had his second shift at maccas today. He was excited about the $40 he makes from that. 40 concerned me, but it was only a 3 hour shift, and he is 14 so hourly rate is better then the $9 an hour i made as a 1st year, but its not the 2000s anymore. I did ask him, so he is the apple pie guy, but i asked do the people on the burger assembly line get yelled at by the shift manager for over saucing? And do the customer's complain when they get what the manager wants? It was a pretty short answer.

Picking he will appreciate that $40, it's different when you earn it, has more value.

I find these stores can give the kids a good kick start in business management, my daughter and one of my grandchildren benefitted from this while studying at university, both got manager cadetships, sure the wages can be low at first; but you got to start from somewhere.

Picked up a job lot of Mk1 Cortina GT and Lotus parts cheap this morning. Guy had bailed and left them at a private car club, clubhouse in a quiet industrial area.
Felt good sitting down in the luxury members lounge for a coffee and car chat with the seller afterwards. Oh how the other half live

Funny you say that, i was telling my son if he gets an offer for management training, take it. To be fair that will be a long ways away as he is only new to the job and only 14, but i know enough people who started as shit kickers who say that the manager training courses provided at places like maccas are a very good stepping stone for career advancment. I also gave him the advice to show initiative, as in if you have nothing to do, ask for something to do, as opposed to getting told off for not doing anything. And if you don't fully understand instruction, dont feel like an idiot to ask for a better explaination. From the other side of that, there is nothing worse the having (in my case) an apprentice say yep yep yep then after a while checking up on them and they have created more work as they were too afraid to look silly by asking further questions. Im not one to belittle people, and you do not get answers to questions you dont ask.

Homemade seatbelt soup; perfect for a chilly day.
Strain before serving; add cracked pepper and either a dollop of sour cream or Grano Padano to taste. Bon appétit!

Is that the same cooking process as black swan.where you put a lump of bluestone in with the swan to cook then when the bluestone gets soft, throw the swan out and eat the blue stone

Is it sun-ripened? And leave it overnight to help bring out the full flavours.
