Birthday last week. Got some lotto tickets and scratchies.
Checked them today. Won 2 lots of $18 and $20 on the scratchy.
Also sold some militaria pieces for $360.
Beers are on me.

Saw a dual cab Jeep ute today, apparently he’d not sufficient funds for roof bars or a tail flag after splurging on a body kit. 2x4s bundled together, some overhanging the tailgate admirably (and unflagged), others poked through the rear screen hatch to rest on the passenger side dash - driver holding them down as he drove. One panic stop and it would be off to Windscreens O’Brien.

I felt good about having a ute that cost far less, which can carry real loads more safely/easily than this “toy”.

Traffic cops could make a killing sitting off at Bunnings catching these dummy's.
Insecure load, no red flag, load projecting etc.

Not being rude, but what is your definition of a real ute?

Default Re: What made you feel good today?

It’s by no means an exhaustive list, but a few thoughts:
  • One that can fit a full-size cast iron bath (still crated from the supplier or coater) in the tub without overhang.
  • One that can carry 750+kg of loose building materials uphill at freeway speed, or brake safely but heavily from these speeds with such a load.
  • One which can carry 2400 studs in the tray with little or no overhang.
  • One where you can access all goods in the tray or on the racks without needing a permit for work at heights.
  • One that’s well supported in spare parts and has good repairability.
Lots of non-Falcons fill the above brief. But not a dual cab Jeep - with or without body kit.

One that doesn't need you to tow a trailer to carry all the stuff that doesn't fit in one of those tiny dual cab tubs/trays.

Yeah be interesting to see how much dual cab ute sales would drop if the ATO decided they would no longer be classed as commercial vehicles

So i check out tomorrow from the hotel im staying in. Anyhows, turned the lamp on at 230am this morning and on the wall was a huntsman. Not a big one by hunstman standards. Palm sized not full hand size. They're harmless so i named him frank and left him alone. Come morning i said to the housekeeper 'come meet frank'. She freaked. Then he disappeared for a while. I told the lady on the front desk, not as a complaint, but i said after i check out they can play god as the next person in that room will probably blow up if they see frank.
Anyhow, he showed up later so i did the right thing and got him with a glass then slid a sheet of paper under that. On taking him downstairs and outside i introduced the lady on the front desk to frank. Yeah, she freaked out. Anyhows went for a bit of a walk and frank now lives in a tree.

I already miss frank. He kept about his own business. But i relocated him the humane way, because his other options would have been mortein or a shoe.
Still kind of funny of how terrified some people are of hamless hunstman.

I was bitten in bed by a proper bull-ant on the weekend. That didn’t make me feel good!

Wasps, bees, spiders, anything that can give a decent sting or bite. Yeah they get stomped on in my view. But huntsmen are harmless.

My late brother was one of those big macho people who could look after himself in any situation, except for spiders, the big pussy would go to jelly at the sight of a spider. I was always the sucker in having to remove them, sometimes I chased him with a spider for fun.

Just had a drive of a Hyundai Ioniq N5, holey moley.
0-100 in 3.4 seconds,
448 kw in normal mode
Just feeling that instant torque when you stab the throttle.
And does it look good or what.
Only about 110k.
Very, very nice car.

The only electric car I'm interested in but thought it was closer to $120k? Really like the look of even the normal Ioniq 5 but N is just better again.

After two weeks on the road with my daughter to get her to her new home and settle her in, it's time for me to leave her to her own devices. Gonna be a tough day.

To take the edge off, I've been upgraded to business class for my first flight from cairns to brissy. Never been business class before, so I hope it is a good experience.

The first time I got on plain, it was in business class to New Zealand. The flight was my 30th birthday gift. I was super nervous, so downing chocolate cake in the business lounge before the flight helped settle me down. I was warned the trip home in cattle class would be a little bit different.

Pulled over by a sneaky Mexican bubble gum machine pinged at 2km's over the limit.

Given the warning and passing the attitude test, they wanted to computer check the licence, second cop walks all the way back until he realizes he couldn't, being an out of state one.

Always found this rather amusing back during the Covid wars.

Interesting you say they cannot check interstate licenses, quite sure than can do that along with rego checks, just takes a few minutes longer than local licenses.
Good to hear that they are out and about as I never seen one Thursday afternoon from Melbourne to Albury.
Cheers.

They reckon they are doing a zero tolerance long weekend, I actually don't believe it was over as I had just crossed a rough rail crossing and was accelerating back up to speed but didn't push the issue.

Cops were great. Always curious about my plates.

Easter miracle; Crash Bunny - last sighted January 6th - sends a message after midnight to say he’s still alive and is back at his digs. I was literally days away from tracking down his estranged son to explain he was missing three months and the coppers had been no help.

What made me feel good today... coming home.

- I saw a junkie beg at the middle of a giant intersection from car to car and then run off to the pub.
- Same junkie then came up to me asking for money to feed his daughter.
- I tried to order KFC and had no cash; old mate at the counter says I have to order at the kiosk as their EFTPOS terminals were down (kiosks included). I asked how can I place an order with no payment method...
- I then went to fill up with gas, went to pay and the cashier said "$790". I asked them to check they selected the correct pump, they insisted I put in 950L of gas.
- Manager was then called to sort their shit out, he apologised profusely and then said, "that will be $230".
- I had put in $31 worth of gas, eventually someone with a brain turned up.
- I then had to dodge an absolute fruitcake on the road who had a death wish. She was naked and hot and trying to jump in front of cars.
