Got to say soft spot for Statesman/Caprice V8's.
Good candidate for one of those $2500 resprays in dandenong, get it back, wet sand, good polish, great daily for under 15k for years to come.

I love how nearly all of these E series and AU Fairlanes still have the original stereos in them.

How do you plan to go about it - get running in Sydney, then drive to WA - or freight it over as a prospect?

Seat adjustment is fully hydraulic, front and rear. No line pressure, it will settle as it sees fit. Hence the oddities as you note.

Depending on rust, would be a better value restoration prospect than a DS21BVH of similar era.

Sounds like you’re wanting another German project…
Pockets don’t go anywhere near deep enough for that thing. I see prices internationally for good ones (probably a subjective term) start from 200k USD. I wouldn’t be surprised if resto cost plus purchase price approaches that figure.
I see Tyrells Workshop YT channel currently has one he is working on.

Same engine, been eyeing this the last 12 months or so. It has come down in price from $65k.
I can’t commit until the end of the year but I’d drive this over from NSW.
As far as classic cars go, this is pretty good buying IMO.

It’s got proper hydraulics, so it’s an honorary Citroën.

Iain Tyrell is a painfully self-important character per YT wafflings, who reminds me of the schoolteachers that would “supervise” children in changerooms. He could deliver his meaningful content in <20 minutes.

That makes the au ute i bought my brother a few years back look good. And the only buying points it got was 12 months rego, 207k on the odo, factory manual and $3500. So really, that was just paying for ute, new clutch and rego.

Only an auto thong-slapper 4.2, but credit for its condition (other than console)

https://www.grays.com/lot/0001-20085...utomatic-sedan

Love the sticker with 7-digit landline number.

Even has period correct lambswool covers, with immaculate seats underneath:

If that were an SA vehicle I would bet on those seat covers having been purchased from a stall at the Brickworks Markets, probably along with a pair of knee-high lace-up ugg-boots to be worn over a pair of acid-wash jeans.

Thats nice. My brother has an 82 vh slx 'project' car. Same deal, 253 thong slapper. Has 107k on the odometer.
But i put project in '' because its been in bits for 20 years. He got it for $1000 though back in the day. It was my 1st girlfiends mums car, but she couldnt pay the mechanic for repairs so my brother bought the car for cheap.
