Parts run to Twin City Kenworth yesterday and spotting all these beaut SAR "Legends" going out to their new owners.
So good to see manufacturing is NOT dead in building these Oz specific trucks. This one caught my eye being gold and on demountable rims. (spiders)

It was yesterday evening, but reading about the crooked tree made me chuckle. It must have been infected by the Lygnophylla Kareniiensis pathogen, as trees don’t experience Peyronie’s Disease.

We might have one leftover machine screw, there was a mix-up of screws in another part of the reinstallation and we had one too short towards the end - so a bolt was ratted from the shop collection of stray bits. Otherwise going to plan, pretty much.

Greatest difficulty is in selective repair, factory-correct dissembly and reassembly is just a long, iterative process. But if you want to replace a thermostat or de-carbon the intake, it’s a right battle because the clearances between engine components are so minimal.
Vehicle should be driving off into the sunset with its owner tomorrow; looking forward to it. |

It was late yesterday actually, but successfully fishing a male RCA terminated video cable down a super skinny length of convoluted rubber trunking. Thank G_d for silicone spray; they might be advised to keep it in maternity wards.

A very traditional “Spanish” guitar rendition. As in, the instrument in use has been built with the construction methods contemporaneous to the composition. Imperfect (hey, what kind of human can emotively play and with utter perfection for five minutes anyhow?), but still nice to hear.
And then a rendition of the same piece with “modern” structural design of classical guitar (Aussie made, too). It’s interesting how each has merit - one doesn’t surpass the other. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GY5y4Rp3tU8(Uploader has blocked preview panes.) |

A work colleague had an accident on his property about 18 to 24 months ago, suffering spinal damage. He was rendered an incomplete paraplegic.
Because he was a new Zealander, he wasn't able to receive government assistance (or something along those lines) so work ran a fund raiser to support him and his family. Well, I ran into him in the office today. And, he was walking! I couldn't believe how much he had recovered. He still has very limited use of one arm and leg, and the others still have some limitations, but the recovery was remarkable. We ended up chatting about my single sided deafness and how that came about, and that I could empathise to some degree because of it. I told him that seeing him back in the office had my day. He was chuffed that I told him that.

Continuing the workplace theme, today I taught the latest addition to the team how to prune roses. I typically do this job alone, which takes me at least two days to get through them all.
Not only was it nice to have some assistance, but I'm also finding the teaching process very rewarding, especially when the person is genuinely interested, willing to learn and becomes confident in what they are doing.

My grandmother used to make apple pie for my mother's birthday every year, apples and cinnamon would have to be one of the most delightful smells to ever come out of a kitchen.

Of all the work experience kids or new hires that have been handed over to me, most have been an exercise in frustration. We are talking a broad spectrum of ages here, from 15 right through to people in their 50's, most only had a vague interest in what they were doing, if at all. The young ones you can excuse, they are still learning how to "work", even if its frustrating to deal with. But it's the ones who are old enough to know better that get up my nose. Especially rushing through a job just to get it done, rather than taking the time to do it properly to a high standard. The result ends up me having to go back and re-do the job, which in turn negates the purpose of their addition to the team. Or the ones that need to be guided every single step of the way, but still do it half ars.d I've seen more than 14 employees and countless work experience kids come and go over the 20+ years I've been there. Only two have shown a genuine interest in what they are doing, to the point where I'm confident in setting tasks and being able to concentrate on other things. "Easy" if you will. I probably shouldn't care as much as I do, I'm just the chief lackey and don't own the business.
