The car in XR8, XR6 and G6 guise (what we have seen) looks a class above the FG in just about every aspect as it should. Put a FG XR and the new one next to one another even through pictures the FG looks dated, a generation or so behind just like FG did to BA/BF twins. I'd be keen to see them in the flesh and I hope Ford keep them clean, forget the tacky decals and let the clean lines of the car do the talking. The downside being there wasn't enough money to revamp the interior nor tighten up the chassis.

At least all the cards are on the table. It is not like this was all dumped on us in the last 10mins.
If you like the new design, wait and buy it. If you like the FG better, buy that now or keep what you have. If the Commodore looks better...get your eyes checked.

What do you guys think should Ford have gone with this as an update "FGIII"
Instead of the "New Ford" ? The feedback Im getting when people see it is. Yes it looks nice but is it a new model it just looks like yours with a new front |

It should be a XK XXIV as it still has 4 wheels and 4 doors just like the XK did.

Calling it F anything would be bad IMHO.
As others have said, 'XZ' would be nice as a fitting homage to the model code that carried on from 1960 to 1999.

Hey galaxy, yes for the territory there are 2 located inbetwen the fog light surround and centre grill (inline with the lowest horizontal chrome grill bar) and the other 2 on the horizontal piece of plastic below the number plate, just to the outer edge of number plate.

Maybe these kind's of comments from non Ford/non car people are a symptom of this fact - the fact that it's just a new front is more noticeable to the average person than the previous generations updates. I dunno, just a thought. I'll reserve judgement till I see it in the metal. |

I'm about 50/50 in regards to liking/disliking it...i like the look of the headlight design kinda has a aggressive/mean look to them, then there's the upper trapezoidal grill that runs in with fords new global design language that is found to be similar on all new fords that i'm not so sure about yet...but i think if the 'REAL' (not CGI's) cars have the right proportions in the lights, grills etc it should all look good in the metal.

Correct. XG & XH.
Even the most negative post of mine here will not stop me from buying the last Falcon though and it will become my first ever black car as well. Can't wait!

the last ever Falcon was always destined to not look like a Falcon, as such. FG will remain the last authentic looking Falcon. 201X is a crossover to the global model. It's a transitional design, so it looks more like the existing US designs than a Falcon ever has. So some will hate it, some will love it, some will be on the fence about it.
either way it's the last shot at the icon we love so it's there to enjoy for a little longer.

I was actually thinking about the same thing before, it might of added to the aggressive look...instead of a massive grill with nothing in it apart from a badge.

Even if they kept the initial grill shape they ended up with, but with the extra lines in a similar fashion...

I also think that the ford badge should have been in the top grill and perhaps the xr8/whatever badge in the lower grill.
here's another 'very rough' edit...as i don't have photoshop, not sure if the bar across to the ford badge (similar to the current fg) would be overkill or not... Last edited by AUS GRUNT; 30-07-2014 at 12:41 AM. |

I'll agree, although I'm thankful something's finally come out to look at which would make it easier for some to decide oh buying a fg or "fh", I'll make my final call on like or dislike till I see a real car in the flesh, I really hate ford's cgi obsession, screams cheap n nasty promotion to me,

To me the front end doesn't quite gel with the bodywork. I'll reserve final judgement till I see one in the flesh. Any interior shots yet? I personally hope Ford have made more changes to the interior than what is expected as this car needs to be more than a one trick pony, currently the way it's promoted to being.
