No worries at all Darren, I see people every day jumping through hoops trying to get into the mining industry so I try to do everything I can to help.

Never did I think I’d find someone struggling to get back in! They’re all about experience??? So it makes them a little hypocritical if you ask me.

If I could talk my boss down to say $2800 for the course would you be interested? The case I will put forward to him is that your already experienced so they wouldn’t have to spend much time drumming things into your head.
No pressure, have a think about it let me know then I’ll see what I can do. Can’t make any promises but it never hurts to try!

Definitely keep belting your resume to BMA, they’ve been taking on heaps of clean skins but they don’t advertise this for obvious reasons. That’s not common knowledge either so you didn’t hear it from me!

Take care, good luck and I’ll talk to you soon.

AAAAAAAAARRGHHH!!

miningjobsnoexperience and getajobinthemines sound like websites that have been designed to trap as many googlers as possible. Thye best place to find jobs would be the companies websites themselves. All these recruiting agencies are just trying to take people for a ride.

I said to her does Carlie have a surname , no answer .

Hi

I've been looking over your file again and mentioned to Edan that you really want to get into the mining industry. So I hope you don't mind, but I asked her if we could do something nice for you. Edan thought this was a great idea, so we've reduced the price of our mining service by a big 25% off for you.

Usually the service costs $214, so this discount reduces the price down to $159. For this price you still get the exact same service and help from us. But be quick, because this offer is only available for the next week!

You can visit our website at the Mining Australia special offer page to sign up. I know times have been tough but the mining industry is definitely on the way up and I really want to help you out, so again I hope you don't mind :-)

Thanks

Carlie :-)

Got sent to a project yesterday $36 hour, 12 hour days, 3 weeks work in Carindale!
And sure enough i got turned away at the gate !!

Nobody mentioned i needed an induction card for the construction industry to perform T/A work before they sent me there and i gave up being available for other jobs $$$ Holding out for confirmation of this one, because they all promise "On-going" work... .

Now i am waiting by the phone for the idiots to confirm my statement of attainment e-mail has reached them and i am ok to work tomorrow and this weekend ...

Stressful freakin' times right now ...

Seen on the news just now they were advertising jobs along the peaks down hway (just outside of Mackay) by holding signs up with
"Operaters wanted
49525244"

No mention if they wanted clean skins or already skilled workers. Company was Global Product Search.

the thread is still running 2 tiers . very interesting . on one hand of an octopus , companies are forced to hold signs up on the side of the road in the hope to get people to work for them. on another octopus hand they are turning people away at gates and telling them to go home after these people have done months of licencing , medicals ,interviews, and training etc .
And on another hand of the octupus scam employment agencies are opening bank accounts and taking donations for e'mails .
And on another hand of an octopus , people cant even get a reply from employers after applying for a job .
and on another octopus hand, there is talk that immigrants are prefferred over locals so they can pay a lot less in labor ( that doesn't seem like the aussie way) better go to another thread now as i'm starting to have a 4 way argument with myself .

BUT WAIT !!!!! THERES MORE !! mining is safer today than ever before > because we bring the clean skins from india in 1st . MY HEAD IS HURTING

Interestingly enough I got a similar barrage of emails after being contacted by a (what I would have consider a reputable) recruitment agency directly on Linked In. Very skimpy on details, no surnames on email footers, ect...

Eventually they took offense when I told them I'm not going to provide my details if that can't tell me any details about the company, or even what the position was!

Smelt like a scam also!

I've been in the mines for about 6 years now. 2 years at Woodie woodie and 4 at Cloudbreak. I work in the labs testing all the grades for the ore. Nice easy air conned office job

From everything I have seen, The mining companies scream black an blue that they can't find workers, but the people applying for the jobs cry black and blue they can't get a job.

I know at least in my company, we haven't advertised for a position in years. We have a list a mile long of people working for our company in Perth that are keen as mustard to get site so there is no need.

Most other big companies don't advertise entry level positions since everyone working on site has a mate or family friend that is hassling them for a job. It becomes more of who you know than anything else. The problem is everyone sounds eager to work, but you get them on site and halfway through their first stint want to go home and be with their family.

M favourites are the ones who come up and think they are going to be the king cheese in 3 months time. You give them the entry level jobs which are incredibly repetitive, mind numbing and isolated and they complain they are too good for it. They end up making mistakes all day so they don't get moved up and whinge they aren't getting the positions they signed up for.

My best employee now is an east timorese guy who struggles with English. If I ask him to mop the floors it doesn't only get done straight away, but he then does it everyday without being asked. Most Aussies I get have a strop that is they wanted to clean they would get a job a a cleaner. If we get a job that is full of sloppy wet samples that take a lot of effort to prepare, the Aussies will all put aside pretending they didn't see them while the east timorese guy will go straight for them and get it done without complaint.

Talking with a lot of the older generation they all suggest the same thing, the reason work is being outsourced to foreigners is because they are actually willing to do it. Not because they are cheaper - they get paid the same. Too many kids these days expect to walk into a supervisor / mangers role straight out of highschool with out putting the hard yards in.

Straight off SEEK !!

Operators Required NOW!

Calling all Truckies and Multi Skilled Operators, we want you NOW!

Are you tired of dealing with agencies or companies who just don’t understand the mining industry as well as they make out?
Do you want to use ‘coal mining’ lingo and be understood?
Do you want to speak to someone who knows from experience what it feels like to do 12 long hours in the stinking hot outback? Or someone who REALLY understands what it’s like to be in control of a 600 tonne piece of machinery?

At Global Product Search, we understand that coal mining is your passion, because it’s ours too!
Our team are still trying to get the coal dust out from behind their ears!

What other recruitment company in Mackay has two OCE's, a Superintendent, a Mine Manager and a Senior HR Advisor sitting in their office ready to talk 'coal mining' to experienced operators like you?

TODAY we are looking for EXPERIENCED operators for 17 Coal Mines!

To be considered for these positions, you MUST have Black Coal Competencies or Site Authorisations for one or more of the following machinery:

Komatsu 630E, 730E, 830E Trucks
CAT 785, 789, 793, 797 Trucks
CAT D10 and D11 Dozers
Liebherr 9350, 994 and 996
Hitachi 2500, 3600, 5500
O & K 340 and 170
PC3000 and PC4000

Please forward your resume and copies of any BCC's or Site Authorisations, CBM and Generics to hr@globalproductsearch.com.au or call NOW on 07 4952 5244 / 0408 798 088 for a confidential discussion.

Got an email saying I'm still in the running for one of the operators jobs at work so fingers crossed there tho I'm loving my current job!!

There's plenty of jobs going or coming up around the hunter valley! Muswellbrook/Singleton area..

Mt Arthur has traineeships & experienced operator jobs being advertised until thurs 8th. Think they're looking for around 400 people all up over the next few years

Then rio has Mt Pleasant? coming on line & Xstrata has Rav North & are apparently advertising for operators now..

Good luck everyone!!

Talking with a lot of the older generation they all suggest the same thing, the reason work is being outsourced to foreigners is because they are actually willing to do it. Not because they are cheaper - they get paid the same. Too many kids these days expect to walk into a supervisor / mangers role straight out of highschool with out putting the hard yards in.
top post!!! we had a young green horn start with us, his aunty worked in our HR dept........
