HAHA! have never heard the term "thong slapper", but i always called them a "noise maker"... hottie ones seemed to make lots of noise, but looked slow doing it.
I did have that model cause was mint - stock & cheap.... was surprised cause it proved good to drive & a reliable 2nd car.

Wow, that's nice. Bro's 2nd car was exactly that, in white. 70,000km car, immaculate. Got to watch him destroy it over a few years.

Very smooth to drive.

Rare beast!

https://www.grays.com/lot/0001-70006...dan-no-reserve

Very original looking VH Pacer sedan, what chance a find like this in 2024? From memory it is a 3 speed manual on the floor? Love the instrument cluster on this model.

My only memory of this car is an old fella absolutely booking along Marmion Ave by the sea in Mossy Park, in Perth in the late 90's or early 00s.

Marmion runs parallel to Stirling Hwy so I was following and watching him go from my car on the highway, looking across to Marmion occasionally, and trying to keep up. Geez did that Valiant move!

3 hours left to go, get your bids in Chrysler fans!

CB, sell the Suzuki and buy this instead.

Not a bad price for a manual XR6.

That Pacer was a steal!

smoo, no way am I buying an Alfa to be driven that infrequently. It would be way too needy vs kilometres travelled, and my brother is identifying as a boomer - he’d likely rather trade the Suzi on a newish BYD.

That Pacer price makes my current VG project look like a complete waste of time.
I’m sure if the seller had put it on marketplace or carsales at $20-25k it have sold easily.

I've spotted some very reasonably priced old Chryslers, whilst browsing. If that's what you're into, they represent good buying.
I'm guessing they just don't have the CUB following of the Fords and Holdens.

Don't know about good value but love the engineering.
Pity FORD didn't build LTL's until 1979 ! Cool as.

Particularly when a really nice VH Ranger is asking as such:

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/pres...dan/1327908904

I mean the sheer amount of grunt per dollar on that pacer... 265s are awesome

33’s rusted terribly, almost to Sud levels; there will be exceptions of course. Only trumped by the little Dutch Volvos.

A malingerer from the era of too much ABS plastic inside and flaky HVAC systems. If you want to suffer a small, quirky, sporty and pedigreed car of that era, I suggest either Lancia Thema 8.32 or Peugeot Mi16x4, both best bought as private imports and still LHD.

Oh yes. I initially thought an alternative to the over priced/over rated E30.
Couple of normal Mi16 on carsales, not cheap.

May be meant this from Wiki...........seems to have a badge on the fender...

30th Anniversary
Released in October 1990 the 30th Anniversary commemorative models were identified by a 30th Anniversary winged badge on each front fender. These vehicles carried the vast majority of the technical updates of the EB Falcon.
