I think it's fantastic that the last Falcon model will be the pinnacle of Australian motoring manufacturing, the Ford Falcon will also go out as being the one with the MOST local content and having its two mainstream engines with a lot of Australian content (the 4.0 and the 5.0 Coyote both have a large amount of Australian input, 40% local parts for the Coyote).
Who would have thought that the current 4.0 Litre inline six can be traced back to its origins in the 1970's, if there was ever a proven formula, that was it.

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

Wondering the legal implications of putting a reverse cowl scoop on the XR8 for cold air induction? I've never been a big fan of them and think they look gay as on Commodores but for some reason the idea of one on the XR8 seems appealing, maybe because it's one sexy beast and I'd totally turn gay for an XR8. Would it be possible under one of those bonnets, you'd have to rework the air intake plumbing?

Not hard to colour code the rear chrome garnish on your own car if you don't like it. Personally I think the rear is quite elegant and a real step up in elegance. Very euro looking, which is a good thing. It looks like a true flagship model now without tacky plastic.

Not sure why people are worried about how the base model looks, when currently they are the rarest of the Falcon models. 90% will be XR6s, 8% G6 models and 2% XR8

I think you will find a significant number of utes are base model, for load carrying capacity alone.

plus 98% of statistics are made up :P

Regardless of personal opinion of looks I can guarantee one thing, because of the great way the headlights(drl's) and taillights look lit up the last Falcon will have it's lights on during the day more then any previous model, lol.

Me too. Can't imagine too many members would say no to an XR8, given the chance.

i'd say no to one at the lights

the chrome strip if anything is still covered in tape, just like the wheels are plasti-dipped still on that one. Then again, maybe that'll be part of a "black pack" or something.

So no XR8 Ute - well that makes the choice for me easier in some ways - but now its maybe XR8 Sedan versus XR6T Ute....if only the Little Mexican just popped up with the money and I could have both!

Just looking back over these carpark pics, does it look like the publisher of the below photo has tried to cover the halo lights? Seems a bit strange noting we have seen the lights now..

I thinks its good that the Falcon has managed to step away from the \_____/ grill design, that has served it so well since the EF Fairmont, and have this tripozedial (?spelling) suit it so well that it still identifies itself as being a Falcon!

Cant wait to see them on the road...just wish I could have one.

Maybe these pics were taken before Ford officially released pics, they were covered so they wouldn't lose their job...although plenty was left uncovered.
