I'm actually going to shell out the $20 for those Batmobile series of cars...I mean, go and price a simple Burago or Biante model of a similar size and you usually won't get much change out of forty bucks...

There is no conspiracy about collecting the hard to get cars. You just need to find out what day the stores you shop at re stock then try and get in before anyone else does. Most collectors will take all the hard to get cars and either hoard them or sell on ebay.

I know HW collectors who go out on Saturdays and do every Coles, Kmart and Woolies in the surrounding suburbs as well as having family members pick up all the good ones all the time.Thats why I dont bother going to look myself. At the same time I have over a 100 XBs + heaps of FGs and 50 odd VEs all sent from the USA by a freind who finds them by the truck load as no one over there gives a hoot about these cars.I send him local stuff in return which he cant buy over there like Biantes. So it works both ways.

Having a look at some of my oldies I only just noticed this one says 65 Mustang and doesn't say anything about a Thunderbolt on the back to collect.

It's been a while since I frequented this forum since I sold my FPVs.

Anyways, I am a HW collector.

In recent times, the Reject Shop had been selling the Atari Retro series and more recently the Boulevard series cars. I didn't really care about the cars, except that they had 'Real Riders' tyres.

With the help of a drill to remove the stamping and Rotary device to get the axles off, I have undertaken a series of modifications to the XB Falcon.

In some instances, where the axle length doesn't fit, I have made custom axles by using 0.8 mm brass tubes and crimping them. To make them normal, I use a black permanent marker on the sides so the brass colour is not too obvious.

Enclosed are various photos with different rims.

This looks exactly like the purple Super Treasure Hunt, except it doesnt have the Spectraflame paint job, striping or red walls. But the rims are the Cobra style ones.

Future plans are to do some customisation with paint jobs given that I have a fair few XB Falcons, FG01 (Ford Racecar) and VE utes.

Nice work! that is something hot wheels should offer is a series of muscle cars with multiple sets of wheels and bases that are secured by screw instead of rivets.

Can only dream. HW in the past have done "wheel sets" but they have been horribly expensive.

HW have never used screws only rivets. Some other companies like Maisto and the Top Gear stuff have screws.

Next time I will post some pics up of disassembling a car and the tools I use.

Wow! That's the huge "dreadnaught" ship out of Star Trek - Into Darkness (The "USS Vengeance" I believe)...wonder if they do the Enterprise as well? Yes yes...tragic Star Trek fan here, have been since I was a little tacker watching Kirk in the late sixties and seventies on reruns...

Edit: just had a look at "Halls Guide" for Hot Wheels and Matchbox collectors (http://www.hallsguide.com/2014-series/) and it looks like they are only doing that one...bummer...

My Sons collection. Mostly Muscle cars, bit of TV stuff and some JDM.

I've built a Display rack for it which incorporates Hot Wheels orange track and thats where the out of the pack ones go. This set up displays 90 in the pack plus another 100 or so on the track.

Its already too small!

I still occasionally look at the hotwheels when i'm at the shops but havent seen any Falcons in a long time.

Did manage to get my hands on a 1:18 classic carlectable XA GTHO phase 4.
I dont mind my number as well being #1351 of 1500.

I'll have to upload some pics when I get the chance.
