Had a 4 day weekend and with it being the second week of school holidays and a nice weather day, decided to get out of the house and go for a drive somewhere. Ended up in Metung.
Lake King; nice and calm. Some local wildlife. Both mum and dad were very calm, allowing the kids to get within a metre or so of us without getting worked up about it. Definitely not helicopter parents, these two And an attempt at an arty shot, with the lake framed by the canopy. Needs to be cropped to make it a bit better. And without the kids there.... I know it was a 'warm' day (for here at this time of the year, got to 19 deg), but I don't think I would have been out on the biscuit behind the boat like some were!!

Did the Horizontal Falls last week, north of Broome.
Flew out on a sea plane which was pretty cool. Our boat was a RIB style craft with 4 x 300hp Yamahas on the back. Went like stink. The gap is 7.5 metres wide and our boat is 4 metres wide, not much room for error in turbulent water.

living with you.... yup I understand he would have to be
though if you left a bowl of water he wouldn't be forced to do this kind of despicable act.

The bowl of fresh rainwater is a metre behind him?......
He jumps onto bathroom sink to drink out of tap when having morning wash? All started in 2012, 15 months old and was skittled by a 4x4 on purpose I was told, broke his pelvis in 4 places, I left for hospital appointment in Perth at 9am, and a 3 hr drive, he was hit at 10am, I got home at 5pm and found him in the cold May rain, he dident quite make it under the house, but lay in driveway 7 hours? Think my neighbours helped him? NO? Why not, oh we thought he was dead after car hit him, what car, we don't know, so small town where everyone knows everyone, but no couldn't identify 4x4 or driver, they all hated my cat, and I know they sooled their big mastiff onto him and he was hit running home across road, picked him up expecting him dead and he was like an ice block but he turned his head and gave a very weak mew! Race inside and get plastic top off 40 litre plastic storage container and slide it under him, get him in front of heater, no vet till 9am next day, so saucer of water but can't lift his head, so I had Macca's for lunch and still had the drink straw, made some glucose water, and sat all night sucking water into straw then dropping into his mouth, phoned a female mate, she brought a hair dryer, so we had to get temperature up, I sat all night feeding water through a straw, got to vet, tells me 1° from death, anyway, she took him in and let me pay a deposit, I said I need to sell my car to pay her, she said talk about money later, she took him home a 150klm away where their main vet office is, xray showed pelvis broken 4 places, front left shoulder tendons torn etc, got him back 2 days later and had to contain him for a month, so bought some bird wire and plastic tarp, put kitchen table in lounge with tarp on carpet, half dozen towels, wrapped bird wire around table, and I had to wash him everytime he did his toilet, found hair-dryer best to dry him, caused less pain, but made a cheap drip feed ( water ) system, and 9 years later he still looks to drink from a dripping tap, after all these years he never forgot Cheers BillyM Last edited by slowsnake; 30-09-2021 at 10:18 AM. |
