One of my customers/ friend has a mechanical workshop on the coast here. Being in the trade he has a happy knack of picking up bargains. I call it "Kissed on the D##k" He has a lovely XY GT Lookalike ute, XP Coupe, FB ute among a lot of other cars. He picked up a 69 mustang convertible, fully reg and driveable for $16,000 a couple of months back but his latest pick up makes me want to cry. One of his customers has offered his mum's old car which she had owned from new. 1971 KCode Fairmont, Gold in color 351 T-Bar Auto, bucket seats GS Dash and features all factory ordered. No rust, been stored in a shed for 26 years. Been started regularly, but not driven, so driveline and bearings, brakes etc will need attention. He is picking it up over Easter. The price you may well ask ??? $800.00 That's right, not $8000.00 .........................$800.00 I so hate him !!! I'll get pictures of it shortly...........

I pulled a 1975 Electra mentioned on GM forums as the longest GM 4 door production car out of a shed that had sat for over 6 years. The car has a Chappell RHD conversion and virtually rust free a few of these large GM and Ford cars were converted in the 70’s and 80’s but not sure how many survived. I ‘m going to take my time and eventually get it back on the road everything is oversized but still a basic car to work on.
When the car carrier dropped it at my house it was as long as 2 new RAV 4’s behind it. [[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

not quite barn finds but paddock finds
we went there to look at the XY Wagon but it was too far gone so we are taking the XP as it only has a small amount of rust in 1 of the rear sills but none anywhere else apart from the surface rust, the 600hp 363w my brother is half way through building will go in the XP providing we don't find too many issues. i still want to grab a car but i know i have too much on my plate and not enough money. shame the split window combies are too far gone they are worth a fortune these days the capellas arn't worth anything, the W111 looked ok but still not worth anything and the boat transom was rotten but i like old school boats and a nice old 135hp evinrude would look amazing on that boat there was also a 40's paddock basher chassis complete with ford flathead v8. we already have taken an EJ wagon and Suzuki GS1000ST, i still have the bike in my collection the EJ was sold for parts

it looked like a truck chassis, had some drilling rig welded to the back of it and a big radiator sheild and a sterring wheel, thats it. didn't look like a car chassis, going back out in 2 weeks to pick up the XP so will get some pics.
he had an old F650 ford truck that was pretty cool but rusted out

ive been thinking of spending a day out there
grabbing all the metal trim off the wagons etc as that stuff is going to be hard to find one day he has an xb four door (that i have no photos of ) that has the interior stacked with bits i really need to go and rumage thru it he aint cheap on prices tho i know someone that is a relative of the old bloke who owns the property and even they have offered to catalogue and advertize a lot of it for him and to start getting rid of stuff before it is complete useless to anyone just point to shells and say 100 bucks etc he aint interested one decent chrome/metal strip he wants 30 bucks for so complete rear end metal/chrome around some of the wagons would be a couple hundred bucks and there is heaps of fords with the metal bits left on them

the falcons, bug, capri, xf and chev truck are at a local wrecker, they want top dollar for all of them and not worth buying the 2 chevs stuck under the tree are at the farm, one is a 39 sloper (australian made by holden) and the other is a 49-53 chev sedan

Got a lead the other day from a guy that knows a guy that has a mate that has a heap of XB's sitting in a paddock, so I made a few phone calls and eventually got onto a bloke who lives about 100km from me.
It appears he has 3 x XB ute's two being V8's, a XB GS sedan, XB Station wagon and a heap of parts also a complete XA ute as well as other selected vehicles. Happy to part with all of them, and wants reasonable prices as well, meeting up saturday morning so I can check them out…..I might buy the lot

It's kinda sad when you watch shows like "Amercian Pickers," how many times they will come across some old guy with acres of old cars & bikes, all overgrown and just rusting away. The picker makes his way into the middle, where no human has been in a decade, and emerges with a rusty dirt-encrusted set of forks. Only to have the old say "no, that's part of a project I'm working on."
It's some form of mental illness. They keep buying stuff honestly believing they will restore it, notwithstanding the thousands of items already rotting away on their property. |

There is a rare XB Falcon 500, sitting in a back yard less than 300 meters from my house, its a weird car ordered by a farmer I assume, 351, column shift auto, bench seat, vinyl floor, GT Suspension including factory Detroit locker and tramp rods, vented GS /GT bonnet, standard dash….he will do it up one day, been sitting there for years deteriorating….

Maybe it is a bad idea to post anymore photos. It is torture looking at them for me.
Can't they even put a $5 tarp over them or something. These cars just want someone to love them, but it is not possible with the prices being asked for some of them.
