Hahaha god this old 'Orion'/FG release thread is hilarious! Everyone's opinions of the FG were the same!
You should all just give in now and accept the fact you will all love it when it's released.
I rest my case

Give it up dude, people are entitled to their opinions, you don't have to agree with them, they don't have to agree with you but funnily enough it will always be in "Eye Of The Beholder".....

So positively promoting the last Falcon makes me a nuff nuff?

Ok. BTW, "eye of the beholder" is mostly used when people see a couple where one is CLEARLY and OBJECTIVELY batting above their average. That saying is used to explain how that person could possibly find that other person attractive. The FH rear is not an offensive design. My attack was on people calling it ugly. It is not. That IS factual.

being a obsessive dictator/fanboy isn't promoting anything...i can tell by your "current rides" that you must be first in line with the cheque book to support this last Falcon, what have you ordered? btw, i don't like what i have seen of the rear to date, so don't go misconstruing my take on things.

I'm really going to miss waitiing and then finally seeing the new falcon every few years :(
It was always exiting to me just wondering how it will look.

Thank’s mate, that to me proves the Falcon is simply such a better looking vehicle of the two hands down.

Sorry, but I take issue with this statement. While I personally find the new design quite beautiful, I think it would be arrogant to state that my views on the design are factual, objective and final. Some people may well find it to be quite ugly- and that's their view. There are no facts. You can't "prove" that it's good looking. It's just something you interpret personally. Particularly given some of the poor angles we've been given thus far, you can't blame some people for not being instant fans. It's not because they love their FG so much or because they're undercover Holden fans as you have suggested. Just give them time, many will come around.

True, looks are a completely subjective thing. I think the rear shots we've seen so far are pretty average, I wouldn't go as far as saying ugly, but I don't think it's a pretty rear end.

The front end on the other hand... all sorts of hot. I hope the higher end models with spoilers/diffusers make it a bit more interesting at the back.

Despite the looks, I think this car will feel old. I noticed in the feature list one of my most unfavorite things about my FG; one touch down driver's window only. How about one touch up and down all windows, how hard can that sort of feature be to implement??

Ford wins hands down in front end design, the front end team need a medal. They really should have had them do the rear too, but not a bad effort. But gee, that front end makes VF look so yesteryear and 2D as if was something from 2003.

Anxiously waiting to see the interior but by the looks of things even a heavy rework of the basic FG interior will struggle to best Holdens mammoth (and best in their entire history imo) effort...

As for the tail lights level 1/2/3, I did notice the G6E has a more "smoked" appearance in the tail lights.

Level 1 - XT (like FG had XT-specific tail lights)?
Level 2 - XR6 N/A?
Level 3 - XR6T, XR8, G6E? (LED strip)

Most of us love the front, but it's the rear that's caused some "heavy" discussion.

There were a couple of pictures taken by Spyman earlier in the thread. It will remain essentially unchanged from the FGII, unfortunately.

I'm 5'10" and I wish for the same. Probably the worst driving position of any car I've ever sat in. I drive my wife's Golf GTI occasionally just to remind myself what it should be like.

Unfortunately I can't see it being any different in the new Falcon.

I'm 6'5" and the steering wheel has generally been ok for me, but it's the headroom clearance which has always presented a problem for me in Falcons. I've owned every major model from XD to BF, however this isn't an issue in my small Fiesta.

I've driven a few FGs and noticed it was a little improved though, but imagine the last Falcon to be the same. Curious what the steering wheel will look like though (if changed at all).

Credit where credit is due from what I've seen so far. The Aussie design team had to work to within a very strict budget with a clear set of directives from the top brass back in the good old U.S of A that the last Falcon had to adopt the corporate face in preparation for what is to come next for the Aussie market. They weren't given a blank sheet of paper and told the floor is yours, show us what you've got. When you take all that into consideration, I for one think that have done an exceptional job given the various constraints they had before them. Case in point is the 3 Photoshops of the G6E with the XR grill above, now that is one smicko looking Falcon.

Given the constraints and budget, Ford Australia has done very well each time. Was Ford Ranger a product of the Australian team ? Ford Europe is also another exceptional team but I would imagine they would have budgets and brainpower akin to Mercedes. But Ford USA? Hmm with all the money in the world what do they come up with lately thats memorable? Retro 05+ Mustang and a long dynasty of F-trucks, out of a long list of shocking and forgettable cars not deserving to even be called Fords.. The people of Ford Australia should be very proud of themselves, they are capable of so much more. Only Ford Australia could have turned the AU into the BA in such a short time and small budget, while at the same time morph that same platform into a convincing looking all-new SUV, all in a matter of 4 to 5 years, thats nothing short of amazing. Not to mention their ability to turn grandpa's axe (the straight six from the sixties) and make it an absolute ball tearer in turbo format, and extracting impressive fuel economy and reliability when strapped into a taxi. But without the backing of the govt and without the backing of Ford USA, it's all just history..

Default Re: Last EVER Falcon Picture & Discussion Thread

Imagine what Ford Aus could have done with a New Falcon if they had a clean sheet, time on their side and the serious backing from Ford USA to do an all new wheels up Falcon this time around. Their efforts recently have been amazing. It's just unfortunate that our falcon does not appeal to other counties tastes as to survive in today's climate ya need to sell large volumes world wide. Unfortuneatly to spend a billion dollars to develop and make an Aus only car does not add up in anyone's books. All that said this is one great effort from all involved. Falcon is defiantly going out on top in the looks department compared to the commodore.
