I've read everything in this thread and others and it's repeated including by our Broady boys here no V8 ute. I'm one of the disappointed but hey XR6T ute won't be a bad thing....
I will buy a XR8 sedan if I can swing it but closer to the end unfortunately due lease timing. Failing that XR6t ute looks like a starter. Me thinks too many reading into the XR8 rear end what we're seeing here. Let's wait and see what's actually been done before we call judgement I'm betting a little it'll look damn good. And I'm reserved on the above shots.

I picture this when I read all these idiotic posts about how bad the rear end is
It is a good looking rear end. It looks good. It's not even an out there design.. WTF people, do all of you eat oats for breakfast and steamed veggies for dinner EVERY night? This is NOT at ALL even a strikingly different design.. Why the hell are people acting like it's a Fiat Multipla?? FF'er are like 3AW 2UE listeners. Their life isn't complete unless their miserable souls have something about which to complain profusely. |

With sales of less the 500 again last month, Ford have done way more than what sales of that volume would allow. Be happy people and appreciate what has be done / given.
In reality, with sales that low it is a wonder Ford just didn't have a few light bulbs hanging out the back of a sheet of metal held on with cables ties.

The anus will be the same as the FG, as it is hidden under the bootlid.

If people continue to bang on about how incomprehensible it is to them that others have a different opinion regarding the visual impact of this car, the thread will close and warnings will be issued. It's beyond stupid now. It boggles my mind that some people can't grasp others having their own viewpoint, regardless of how mild or wild it is.
Last warning. back on track. |

Does Ford even use modern lights on any one of its vehicles? I know in the Ranger you cannot even use a trailer with LED lights unless you get something done to the wiring or something.

There are a lot of cars out there still using incandescent lights. Contrary to popular belief, LED lights are not the pinnacle of Technical development in the automotive world. Ford have delivered projectors lights and DRL's as well as a heavy cosmetic and feature revision for a car that is, let's face it- not selling very well at all. If the Falcon was still selling 4000+ models a month and not destined for the Orphanage in Mullaly's One Ford empire, then Yes- I'd expect more but this is it. I'm absolutely certain that Ford AU have done the very best they can with $130M.. I'm damn proud of them. $130M doesn't buy much.. not when you consider the amount of R&D, testing, Salaries paid out of it etc. I haven't even got to any of the re-tooling required either.

Just adding projectors is lazy and stupid though, they should have included a Bi-xenon lighting package as well, as there's no real point using projectors without them. If I do get a new Falcon, first thing I'm doing is chucking in a HID kit. |

The thing that impresses about Spyman's post (6998) is that the angle shows a sense of rake to the rear, that isn't apparent on the square/rear-on shots from last week.
WELL DONE!!! We're finally getting a bit of an idea of how it might look in 3D, and i'll bet it's pretty effing HOT. Just add spoiler, XR8 badge, twin pipe diffuser......AND bigger wheels!!

What strikes me about Spyman's shot of the rear is the rake of the area surrounding the numberplate. The FG has a fair angle across the rear panel as it is but this is much more pronounced, with the plate itself a long way off vertical.
With seemingly no sheet metal changes to the bodyshell (rear quarters and boot opening the same, but new bootlid, bumper and lights) they seem to have used this indent to add extra depth to the design - which wasn't on show in the direct rear shots. Makes me want to see one in the metal even more now!!! |

Bet the model code will be another one of Graziano’s brilliant marketing strategies.
Matches all the other decisions he’s made as CEO. ( Geez, my 1st post and already I'm up on the soap box ) |

My guess is FY. Right at the end they'll have a FY GTHO Phase V that will be the best car ever made bar none. It will be the fastest 4 door in the world, and when you all see it it will be love mate, pure and simple. You'll be able to buy it for $65k drive away, and there'll be enough for everyone.
Good times. |
