Just a sound shell, preferably with fixed glass unbroken - that’s all I really need. Have driveline, tub and front clip.
White car you linked looks a good prospect for someone wanting a manual AU. |

Imagine you've got a 1.5-million-dollars to spend on a car, what would you buy? Why buy something exotic when you can have a Holden Commodore with 205,000km on the clock in baby-sh.t yellow....................1.5 million worth of Ecotec goodness.

No dings down the side of it, he mustn’t have thrown boxing bag Bev against it.
But that is worse than the crack heads placing exorbitant prices on HSV XU6 and CV6 Monaro… ‘very rare car’. Yes, they were rare for a reason, no **** wanted them when they were new and the same goes for today. |

What should I do? I wonder if they have seen the movie 'The Castle'? That tag line certainly fits this scenario. Cheers, One Man

When you finally hit that 4000-7000 RPM where it boogies, you're well above dangerous driving charge speeds. Its still shitful with the ZF as well, especially in comparison to the XR6T/F6 where it comes on boost virtually instantly and you get this fat surge of torque down low. She's no LS, GM has had it over Ford with V8s right up until Miami appeared, not to mention Ford deciding to discontinue V8s from 1982-1992 or something, then reintroducing with the boat anchor 302 Wheezer in the E series - thats why there was a zillion more Holden/HSV fans than Ford ones, and Holden (and the Commodore) was seen as 'Australias car' even though it used imported everything. If you think about it, was the I6 that good (E Series/AU Tickford edition and then Barra) or was the V8s on offer just absolute boat anchors? Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 09-11-2024 at 11:20 AM. |

Compared to say a BMW M30B35 which goes back to the 1970s, has similar torque and drivability to the ohc 4.0, more power, much better sound and pulls pretty hard. Or Mercedes M104 3.2, down on torque but has about 170kw, revs out to 7000rpm and awesome doing it. |

The Intech 6's will outlast religion, and the Barras not far behind. Apart from the criminal undermining from Ford, ultimately it failed by becoming a dinosaur. An ageing warhorse, in a market that increasingly wanted cheap flashy disposable crap.

I've been watching XR6 Turbo utes since before Covid, waiting for that perfect example. I want an FG MK II or FGX, automatic, leather, low kms and not ridiculously priced. Oh, and NO modifications! The other requirement being not a basic colour like white, black or silver.
On mods, can I just highlight how people like to say "stock as a rock, except for....................". Buddy, it's not stock as a rock if you have changed the battery location to fit a giant intake, a droning exhaust, or dropped the ride height ridiculously low. And so, the below example ticks all the boxes, except for the colour. I would have preferred it to have the chrome sports bars still fitted, they have also removed the badges, the XR8 hood I could live with. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...&utm_id=587571 Then I discovered that this is apparently a "GENUINE BAHN FIND!!". Lol, they couldn't even spell barn correctly. If this car was painted in Octane, Seduce, Kinetic, Sunburst, Swift or Viper, I'd be seriously tempted.................even though I would be shot if I brought another car home.

I've been trying to find a half decent ba/bf 6cld ute for under 10 grand in queensland and wow talk about an eye opener. I just find it hard coming to grips with the prices they want for absolute turds, stuff i'm seeing for 3 grand now a few years ago would have been $300 paddock bashers. And does anyone know how to take photos anymore? I swear I could start a successful youtube channel just knocking some of the crap photos some people are using.
And I've learnt a lot of new language for instance " arab tune " " limi tune " " weldy " " manny " and everything is no rego or roadworthy. Ive been looking for a couple months now and it seems for something just under 300 000ks in reasonable condition you have to pay over 5 grand.

Some people are delusional with their assessment of "immaculate", usually displayed by two or three out of focus images of a car covered in dirt and empty food vessels spread across the passenger side floor. And if the car isn't "immaculate", then the seller will be describing the filthy condition of their "ultra rare" vehicle as being a BAHN find. These people should be locked in a barn in my opinion.

It must be getting closer to seeing a DFB FGXR6 thread on buying and cleaning up a cheap disgusting filthy dirty unloved car, back to showroom condition.
Falcon Ute would be an excellent choice. There is never going to be an equivalent vehicle.

I bought my 2012 FG II Ecoboost Limited Edition for $13858 drive away. Sold it for $14k cash... 3 months later (cause I didn't like it) after advertising it for 8 days... to the 1st bloke who asked to see it. AND, the kicker was, he didn't test drive it! 1st car I have ever sold without it being taken for a hot lap. (No, there was nothing wrong with it). These are the pics I used: https://postimg.cc/gallery/pyS0CKt Yeah sure, it still had a few of my things kicking around in it when I took some hasty pics, but you get the idea of the immaculate condition of the car (53,000kms). Don't see why peeps just can't spend the time to: A: Wash the thing B: Vacuum the thing - not meaning detail. Just remove your shit / junk. C: Take decent photos from all angles inside and out. I have sold lots of cars, and the main thing I focus on is: CLEAN. Sells the car every time. Shows you actually give a fsck about it... even though I may have been owned by me for a week. Went to see a TRD Aurion before I got mine. The thing was trashed.. had crap inside, windows you couldn't see out of. Engine bay was disgusting. Idler pulley noisey... etc etc He'd only been trying to sell it for like 15+ weeks when I found it. Wonder why? It sold a while ago, but I mean.. If I cleaned that car, photographed it as in the above example, wrote a descent blurb, cleaned the thing as if it was my own pride and joy, I would've not only sold it, but I would have gotten top dollar for it... all day long... in days... NOT weeks. Some people are lame / lazy / dumb asses when it comes to selling stuff. /Rant off. One Man

One other thing, which you obviously did, rinse down the engine bay! It's not hard and doesn't take long, but if the engine bay looks tidy, it gives the impression the car has been looked after.

When i searched for my ute, i was the same. Standard/no mods (it had rubbish wheels which i could accept) Turbo falcons are renowned for being advertised as standard, but just arent or werent in a previous life. Probably as they are easy to make power with i dunno. They also seem to be one of those cars where theres a big difference in price and also condition and most of the time price doesnt reflect condition. I remember in the height of covid, i was offered more 1.5 the price of what i paid for it. Couldnt do it.

I saw a Rav4 or similar for sale the other day.
If I was looking for this type of vehicle I'd look right past this one because the seller had printed For Sale signs on A4 paper and then used sticky tape to affix them to each door... clearly dont look after your car if you are happy to tape shit to the paint. At least use the windows mate. |

When I sold my 2010 G6ET last year I put top dollar on it. I knew that I needed the right buyer but I also knew that I could almost guarantee there wasn’t another in the country for sale that was as clean with zero modifications. It had 60,000km from memory. The first person that looked at it bought it for $36500. I think I had it up for three weeks or so but man I had some ridiculous low balls and crazy swap offers.
I definitely sold it at the right time as the market has plummeted since. I saw it for sale at 34k about 6 months later but it just wasn’t presented well, bad photos and dirty interior. I’ve flipped lots of cars, it’s all about presentation and then honesty with the potential buyers. Yes there is some bargains in the market right now, but I’d say 95% of Ford V8 enthusiast cars under 30k are buckets of trash. Bogans trying to break even on the crap boxes they bought for inflated prices during covid. This was the main for sale photo I used

In very early 2020, before Covid, I had to pass on a perfect FGX. It was a 2016 build, in Aero Blue, Auto, Lux Pack, no mods at all, one owner, only 20,000 km on the clock................it ticked every single box. Price? Only $37,000! I sent an enquiry via CarSales one night before, the next day the owner was calling me while I was trying to work. I remember it clearly because I was an absolute mess that day. A few hours earlier, my dog decided to disappear. I only answered the phone to the guy because I thought it might have been someone phoning about my poor boy. I feel bad because at the time I just couldn't care less about the car at that moment, so I wasted his time. The silly dog spent the day on the run and only returned home after being skittled. You can put two and two together as to the financial cost of that day and the subsequent longer-term recovery. Then Covid hit. Prices sat still for a while, but then went nuts. The Aero Blue example sold, but similar condition vehicles that came later sat at $65,000 and beyond. I wanted one, but that was $25k more than when they were brand spanking new. Prices have since come down, but as these cars get older and older, there are less and less low km/unmodified examples hitting the market.

Also, as a side note as to how tanked the market is. I have a good mate selling a very good manual V8 Ford that is honest with great service history etc. He has his car up for mid 30's. There are only two other on the market and they are auto and 40k plus. These were selling for around 40-50k mid covid. All he has had is multiple time wasters. People coming to look, driving 4 hours and then offering low 20's. People looking and then saying they need to sell their car first. People liking it and then saying they need finance. Just a complete waste of time.
It blows my mind that someone would waste a whole day travelling to look at a car, say they really like it, then ask for a 40% discount. I'm a straight shooter, if i'm travelling I do the negotiating before I leave my house. I also don't beat around the bush and pick and vocalise everything wrong with a 23 year old car to then justify a low ball offer. It seems these people are preying on the desperate seller that desperately needs the money. What I do know is that if someone wasted my time like they have with his car and then proceeded to low ball, i'd very quickly tell them to f off. I don't know how he has kept it together. I've been lucky, i've never had someone be a complete time waster when i've sold a car, i've been lucky. I think the lower middle class are struggling, but above 50k the market still seems to be doing well.

Two speed economy, there's still heaps of spondoolies changing hands, but all your typical glass BBQ enthusiast vehicles aren't changing hands real quickly.
If you're selling a Ferrari 458 I reckon you'll move it quick, because the person who has a couple hundred grand to spare isn't struggling in any economy. |

Nope. Didn't touch the engine bay. Believe it or not. I'm talking about mint mint.. well straight from a 2nd hand Ford dealer mint condition anyway. You reminded me of a VS Common dore V6 exec that I bought once. I rings up, young girl (about 24) answers ph. chat chat.. mum says the engine is stuffed. Asking $900 ono. I went and had a look. Fired it up, runs on 4 pots.. we all know what THAT culprit is / was. It had a full tank of petrol, I offered her $600 and she said take it. It's stuffed. Rang a mate who had a coil pack handy, he gave me a lift to pick it up. Drove it around the corner. Chucked the new coil pack on. Ran sweet as a nut.. of course. Cleaned it, and sold it 3 days later for $1900 to an Indian taxi driver. He was rapped. Loved it.. complained the engine was dirty, and I said: Mate, the last time I clean a late model car engine, it didn't work anymore. Sorry. It is what it is... Truth of the matter is, I did clean it, but did not detail it. Bendix Brake cleaner (or shelite, or Rickosol) is your friend, no smell. No residue. No oil. Tick. One Man over and out.
