The VE has a very short overhang in front of the wheels copying BMW as does most Euros these days.
Because of this change the VE is also the first Holden to have a 50/50 split. Big sedans have been over taken by other products and the Falcon and Commodore and the reason they existed in the form they did is now dead. No-one on this forum wanted to see that happen but we went through the mourning some time back and now live with the reality. I agree the Falcon would be a huge seller in the USA. Ford would only have to make a minor change and release it in 2 models, as an SUV and as an F Truck. |

Yes knew changes were fairly major but with the size of the V8 getting bigger didn't know the exacts. Looking at a VE yeah u can tell but didn't know that. I just didn't agree with a few comments earlier. Actually wanted to talk about how good an FGX XR8 is gonna look in my driveway haha! Like most I've accepted the fate of the falcon though do believe it could have been different if addressed correctly many years ago. Can't wait to see and drive the last V8 falcon!

They wanted to impound it, tow truck was on the way. Car was still completely covered front and rear at that stage. Ford HQ had to make some slick talking phone calls to the police to make sure it wasn't taken away. |

The FGX XR8, the idea is amazing (and has been with the Falcon's and Commodore's for years now, this is just set to be the greatest refinement yet (and I love the VF SS...)): room for my cricket gear, a pram, the baby, 3 adults (one of which is me: I'm 186cm and 100kg...), do 0-100 in ~5sec, overtake anyone I ever come across on the highway with ease and do it all in relative comfort on our rubbish regional NSW roads... man, we're pretty lucky. |

While I'm sure we would all be impressed with the power. Hope the guy got his *** handed to him back at work. One detail I might have missed (sorry this is a FGX question not a VF question) any news on ecoboost engines in a sports model (would it be an XR4T) sorry it sounds like an old UK escort.

Exactly what I want to upgrade to, but can't say I like those wheels much.
Hopefully a black G6ET will have nicer wheels. Good work on the pics (looks like off Chapel Street).

At least that one looks like it has Brmebos on it.
Don't mind it at all .... unfortauntely my financial position doesn't allow me to purchase one though .... wish I was one of the lucky ones to be able to purchase one of these.

Is it the angle of the shot or does this xr8 look like it's sitting abnormally high

It's for all the Holden drivers. They'll never see the front, only those groovy new tail lights disappearing.

Cheers for the pics, but seriously, once again someone has a parked car and doesn't take photos of things we have not seen, like a direct side on shot, I want to see if the front and back dwell together nicely, cause the middle is unchanged. And also the flipping interior lol.

Yes looks are subjective, however, any car enthusiast that isn't afraid of change would know the front of this car is sexy...the ford fusion in the states has an almost identical front and it is regarded as one of the best looking vehicles on the market full stop. For those who don't like the grill which is shown on almost all fords now, trust me, it will grow on you. I used to thing the focus st looked hideous, but it grew on me and I love it. Once you see the falcon on the streets next to other plain looking cars you will notice how much better it really is.

The rear tyres should be the German Dunlops 275s.It's looks quite subtle,European and yet classy much like RS Audis do.
I know that people on the forum have VFs but the VF rear simply does not compare including the GTS/R8 models. A note on the speeding XR6T; the test models( apart from the gas engines) ALL run on 91 fuel so it's possible that the XR6T could've gone a tad faster! |

I think that Ford have really nailed this. The front and the rear look balanced. One question though. If you are prepared to let the XR8 out in public with no camo, why not start releasing some high res photo's of the car for media/marketing releases? These photo's whilst good are not doing the car justice.

Wish he'd left the parkers on...
So the black one has chrome grille and fog surrounds, while the gold cgi had dark grey (possibly dark argent??) trim? Is there going to be a preset colour/trim selection, or maybe a choice?

The next time I'm going to the city, I'll be taking my DSLR, just in case. ;)
That XR8 though, the photo of the rear really compliments it. Now Ford, release actual photos and put them on display at dealers please. |

Possibly this black vehicle has a luxury pack option, while the gold one shown by Ford earlier is how it comes standard, (only a suggestion)

Saw a glimpse of the the g6E on the Hume Freeway on the way back to Melbourne, it was white. If it was definitely a Falcon, it looks nothing like a falcon. But did look very luxurious.
