What does a Falcon look like? What are its defining features? 4 doors? Nope, there was the 2 door X-series falcons. The squareness of the X series? The rounded square edges on the E series? The droopiness of the AU? The tapered look in the B series? Every generation of Falcon has changed the look (usually influenced by an overseas model or design philosophy). In between models were just evolutions of the previous as stop go before the all new models, but there is no defining feature of a Falcon, besides the Ford logo (and Falcon where applicable). Simply put, it is a large 4 door RWD sedan made by Ford. Nothing more.

At first i wasn't sure about the rear end design when i first seen the release pics and also spy shots on weird angles that made the taillights look out of place etc...but now after seeing that shot of the black xr8 uncovered im starting to like it more and more, and i think the reason some think that the front of it looks weird is because of the inside top corners of the headlights are black and blend into the black paintwork of the car making it appear that the headlights are curved along the top...where as on the release pics with a brighter colour it displays a more aggressive look IMO

I think he means that new lights on a FG looks nothing like a falcon...which means the FG doesn't look like a falcon...which means the BF, then AU...
I think I brained my damage trying to figure those sort of statements out...

You come across as offended? I just said it looks nothing like a falcon that could mean (and i meant it) as a good way, hence the backup luxurious opinion. Thanks for the reassurance that the falcon still is a car anyways. Can't really detect specific intentions on a computer, so i'll let that slide.

There are so many angry arrogant pedantic people in here that it beggars belief !
Some of the photo's shown in this thread are taken at the spur of the moment in not very favourable conditions. If you think you can do better hang around Broadmeadows or Geelong 24/7. Then you can get your Interior/ Brembo/Tyre brand and size pics and show the rest of us. Like the old saying......... "if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing"

Wow that black one looks pretty horn - The G6 up the snow also looks good in that colour.
Im loving look of the final 'Coon. I reckon there is a lot of cleverness in having these out there now "naked" to be shared on social media. Opens up to more people who would see TVCs as a reason to mute and make a cuppa.

Thanks for the photos, great to see it out in the open. Would have been nice to see the other stuff, but the fact that your wife caught this (or even noticed what it was) is phenomenal in itself. Can't wait to see this thing in the flesh!

I take it that you ended up getting them? Worst case scenario, take it to a reputable tuner and get the GT-F tune. Oooh, now there's an idea!

Great pics, thanks for sharing them! ALso, damn that is a fine looking car - with apologies to XXX747 missus, you'd probably be hard pressed to find something with a better looking front and back at that time in Melbourne

Could we expect Ford to offer the XR8 for $48,000 - $50,000 in manual form? Would be a good package

It will be an interesting pricing structure considering the Mustang will be selling side by side with the XR8.

Unmistakably Falcon from the wider angle. Yum.
You know, that's not even something I had considered, but you're 100% right. I ISO-fixings weren't a personal consideration (oh and fitting the latest Callaways in too, I guess), the Mustang would be right at the top of my list. |
